Importing a Modified Skyline

I asked this question before, and I think my post got deleted or something, not sure why, because I've searched through and can't find it answered anywhere else. I'm going to be stationed in Misawa Japan for about 4 years here in about 6 months. So I am going to buy a Skyline while I'm over there and I am going to bring it back with me. Alot of the Skylines for sale over there are already modified.

So my question is, when I bring my car to Motorex to have it legalized (yes I am gonna do it the RIGHT way) can my car be modified? Or does it have to be 100% stock.

So I'm either gonna modify the car myself while I'm over there, or I'm going to send home parts as I get them. I just need to figure out how I need to approach the situation. Someone must know the answer to my question, please help.

Thanks,
Jason Garrett

It 's easier on the to do a stock one, but they can do worked ones. I have two worked ones and a stock one going through ledalisation now. One is pushing about 550 horse.

Call Motorex, ask Hiro or Vernon.....they will tell you everything you can possible do to the car. Write a list of what you WANT to do, and then ask if it will be okay.....

Yeah, you should be okay with a modded Skyline. In fact, most of the Skylines that Motorex imports aren't stock at all. It's pretty hard to find a stock Skyline in Japan, because almost everyone will at least change out the intake or exhaust. Motorex's Skylines just tend to be ones with the least modifications/best condition.

I believe you have to be a citizen of a foreign country coming to the US for work or school. The car is allowed to be in the US for 1 year and then it must leave the country. You should probably contact the NHTSA or DOT...

Yes--what GTRinSF says is right.....I do not know if you HAVE to have a REASON to come over to do it (ie, work or school) but it is 100% essential that you be a foreign citizen. I will reiterate what GTRinSF says, and recommend your consulting with the NHTSA, DOT, etc.
