Actually with some synthetics you can go a long time between oil changes as long as you change the oil filter every 3000-4000 miles. I was reading the back of my Amsoil bottle and they said you can go 30,000-35,000 miles between oil changes.

And my sponsor who has been using Amsoil for years said he went 30,000 miles (of course checking the oil level and changing the oil filter) and sent the oil in for analysis. The company said the oil still looks great and is still useable.

So far I've had my Amsoil in for about 4000 miles and no problems. MPG went up and car feels like it runs smoother.

Actually I change mine every 2500 miles. Missed a chance once to change my oil before a trip to Portland. VTEC fluctuated the whole way down then finally never came on. Never doin that again.

Personally I would change it before I went on a road trip like that...just so I could be sure that it was topped off and clean for the whole thing. But that is just me, I don't know what oil experts recommend though.

With normal oil under "normal" conditions, Hondas call for 7500 miles. There arent too many places left where it can be considered "normal" driving. I change my oil(synthetic) every 3,000 miles or after each event. There are some oils that can be changed every 15-30K, NO THANKS. No way I would go more than 7500 miles on any oil.
