Well, since I can't remember stuff when I lived through it and can only talk of it through the things I've recently discovered I would have to agree with :
Sega & Nintendo, most music, the Nightmare on Elm St. & Friday the 13th series, The Ninja Turtles (ok, so I was a fan!), my birth ,Martin Scorcese (sp?), the movies of the era, too many more to list!

80's stuff I could live without:
Punk music anything to do with new wave music  Valley Girl stuff any movie made by the new rat pack (if your old enogh to understand that then I dont have to explain it.  )BS want-a-be hair bands that started late in the 80's thinking they would be hot as Poison or Ratt. Record companys that thought these BS hair bands were good enough to make it. big poofy hair on ugly chicks and older adults who should have known better. high school Mid 80's Mustang. Enough said Bush becoming Prez in the late 80's. 80's stuff I like: HEAVY METAL rock bands (to many to list) the 2ed and 3rd Star Wars movies came out Lamborghini Countach VCR's MTV Heavy Metal da movie Big hair on hot chicks the whole heavy metal slut look on hot chicks! YUM the A-Team!! Battlestar Gallatica Any of the many Anime shows poping up on tv in the earry 80's. mid 80's Camaro cant think of anything else right now... Scott

I was age 2-11 during the 80's, so this list is pretty much a chronology:
Atari Three's Company 35 cent bags of chips 40 cent cans of Coke (those old thin ones, remember?) Night Rider A-Team Baseball cards & comic books Nintendo G.I. Joe's Any action movie starring Chuck, Slye, or Aaaaaaanold. Having one of the top teams and destined champs in Baseball Reebok Vs. Nike 1987-89 IROC-Z's & T/A GTA's Cassette tapes! - music tapes & VHS Beastie Boys, and rap/hip-hop pioneering overall Lots of punk bands like Black Flag, Bad Brains, Dayglo Abortions, D.O.A.
