Click on my website link below and you will find a mods section and go to lightbar. There I tell you how to convert a factory lightbar for light use.

I have tried it this morning from two different computers and connections and it is running fine. BellSouth servers have occasional fits, so try again. In fact, my mail server is down as we speak.

My lightbar
I also used the stock cross member as a light bar, but I kept the gear basket in place. I did lose some room in the basket, but I feel it's a good trade off.

Nice! So you cut out the basket plastic for the crossbar attachment? Looks very clean.

If I ever put lights on the roof, I'll probably drill a hole too. Don't want to, but having the wires running in through the doors is not an option.
XXX did a really nice job with the crossbar.

XXX?
So why didn't you use the Surco(?) rack to mount the lights too? Was it a height issue? Sweet cut and chop to integrate the basket and the bar BTW!

Thanks
I gave it some thought but decided against it. The Surco light mounts are $60Cdn /pair and I need two, I could make my own, but I don't have the tools to make a clean job, most importantly I may be selling the rack in favour of the silver Urban rack. I would have liked the lights further spread apart, but I was limited with this setup.

I'm thinking of doing the same mount because its the only way I can fit 4 lights.
The Hi-Lift Jack sticks halfway over the gear basket. Does anybody know if there is enough room to fit a crossbar in front of the jack?

You would probably have enough room, but you would lose the must useful section of the gear basket. In this case I'd remove the basket all together...or get a new rear bumper and mount the Hilift there:smoker:
