To all who love their Honda, read this. Let's get some real discussion.
First, this is just something to think about, and something that hit me after reading a lot of car magazines. Let's try to keep this post flame free and make the discussion INTELLIGENT!
We as Honda lovers are facing a serious problem. Even as popularity of car modifcation increases, the popularity of new Honda cars has been on the decrease since 2001. The Accord and Civic, traditionally Honda's bread and butter, have had declining sales since 2001, while the CR-V and Odyssey have had increased sales, but the CR-V and Odyssey don't even match a 10th of the Accord and Civic volumes. US sales have been on the decline, as has their overall popularity in both the tuner market and back home in Japan. At a recent auto show in Japan, which one car magazine compared to the Detroit Auto Show, Honda didn't even have a booth, and it was only a small number of Japanese tuner shops that had Hondas. This would be like Chevy not showing up to the Detroit Auto Show. The Japanese show was ruled by the 350Z, as has been the tendency lately at all sorts of car shows world wide. In 2001 (or somewhere around there, correct me if I am wrong), the Prelude saw the end of its production, after only selling around 14,000 units the previous year. Hondas plans were to make the Accord coupe into the new Prelude. Personally, I don't think they accomplished their goals. As you compare Honda with other manufacturers today, you'll notice that Honda has large gaps in its product line. Namely, a 5 door compact car, a Mitsubishi Evo type car, and a convertible. As a proud owner of two Hondas, and a Honda enthusiast, I am worried about the fate of Honda in today's car market. If you compare the Civic Si to other sport compacts in the 20,000 dollar range, the Civic comes up short in almost every category regarding performance. Honda does not have an Evo killer. Honda does not make a light pickup truck. Honda has yet to see that the Civic Type R and DC5 Type R would sell faster than they could produce them in America. My theory is that if Honda had kept the Prelude and offered both a convertible trim-level model and a Evo-killer trim-level model, they would both sell like hot-cakes, and it could have saved production. I want to hear everybody's opinion on the subject.

The only honda that can hang with the EVO is the s2000 or the Acura rsx.

Bro i totally agree now that they came out with the sti and the evo honda has nothing to back that up besides the s2000 which has never been really popular because its a really small 2 seater, they should have totally revamped the prelude and thru that sucker out with the same numbers they put out the sti and evo for. i totally agree with the decline, i too see that happening, what we got the weak as fuck hatch si fugly as fuck what were they thinking its just like a continuous oval sooooooo ugly and fuck the coupe theyve been gay for quite a few years now. wassup honda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The S2000 is a mid-life crisis car for 45 year old men, and remember the RSX is still an Integra... so trying to make a 20,000 dollar car hang with a 30,000 dollar car is comparing apples to oranges.
The RSX rides way too soft and has too much body roll, even on the Type S. And the Type S is how much power the car should have come with STOCK.

See, they keep the NSX on the ticket, a almost completely hand-made "working-man's-exotic-car", and ditch the Prelude. What the fuck were they thinking.

i know a bunch of people are gonna say "What about the s2k" or bring up the tsx ... but those cars are still relatively slow.
I agree with darkimportgrey, i can honestly say that there is not ONE new honda that i would buy right now ... and not only because i have no money ... if i was faced with accord vs camry id go camry cause i like the styling on those better .... still wouldnt buy a corolla though cause i fuckin hate those things (the old ones are coo ... but the 2003+ are ) as far as nissan goes ... the sentra is aight but i dont really like the maxima or altima ... the 99-00 altimas/maximas were coo ... but thats about it.

Personally, unless Honda brings the CTR to the states by the time I get out of school, I am taking my money elsewhere.
