RB20DET/SR20DET for my 2000 Civic
Hey i am looking to install a turbo motor into my 2000 civic, i was wondering if anybody knew if you could install a RB20DET or SR20DET, I know this is a Nissan motor, would this be a difficult swap, if so what is another good engine to consider, thanks for the help

PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS
yeah it would be difficult, but if your serious about it, i dunno if it will fit b/c its length, and you would have to do extensive modifaction to your driveline, b/c these engines also power the rear wheels. just get a turbo kit for your car, it would be much easier, or atleast stay honda |

I'd say get your head out of the clouds. The fabrication alone is enough to cause a heart attack. not to mention the price.

but considering the fact that the outright size of the motor would be hard to fit let alone be able to hook it up to the drivetrain and everything else. that alone will cause headaches and lots of money, plus u would have to cut the fire wall in order for it to fit. then the fact that the motor hooks up to rwd cars and not fwd civics. that would required a lot of crap to do to either make the civic a rwd or to somehow convert the motor so that it is able to hook up to fwd on the civic. its just not possible because of too many factors. i would guess that it would cost close to 20k to do it if not more. you might as well just swap the motor which is like 3-4k then turbo it which is like 2-3k and then go from there.

the rb20det is too big to fit in the civic engine bay, the sr20det would fit, but itd take major fab work. just build your motor up and turbo it.

ok...you guys are all idiots...sorry...don't mean to be such a dick on my first post but, you can drop a sr20det bluebird in a civic...with little to no trouble (besides getting the mounts and all that other good crap tranny, ecu, harnesses...etc.) just a lot of money
$$$$$$$$ anyway the bluebird is a fwd motor that is found in sentra's/200sx in japan.

don't try to put a sr20det or rb20det into your civic. Anything is possible with the right amount of money, but it's not worth it. If you want a fast, turbo'd honda, put in an LS (b18b1) engine, tranny and ecu. Turbo it up. The LS tranny is prefactly suited for turbo apps due to the longer gear ratios, plus the LS can handle upwards of 12psi on stock internals. That's a fast turbo'd motor. And if you spend extra to build up the internals and upgrade the fuel dilvery, etc for the turbo, turn up the boost and make some serious power. There's no need to try to put a nissan motor into a honda just for turbo. An LS with a turbo will do you fine.
