Everyone Look!! Help fast!!

Ok now that I got you herem i have some questions about the radio wires. I posted awhile back about stereo wiring and well after 4 months, I've decided to try and hook up a radio to it but I have one extra wire that I don't know what it goes to. It is wht/grn. I have a wht/blue which is suppose to be the battery wire. Don't know what this wht/grn wire is for. This is what I was given:


ok, here it is, these are the wires in the car.
speaker wires:
red w/green right front (+)
brown w/black right front (-)

blue w/green left front (+)
gray w/black left front (-)

red w/yellow right rear (+)
brow w/white right rear (-)

blue w/yellow left rear (+)
gray w/white left rear (-)

battery- is either white w/blue or white w/yellow (+)<this is the only wire that changes color.
accessory- yellow w/red (+) switched power from the key
ground black (-)
power antenna- yellow w/white
parking lights- red w/black

Well, the extra wire could be for the dimmer so that when you turn on the head-lights, the display dims... Some stereos have the feature, others don't. I just put a deck in my sedan, and it didn't have a dimmer, so I just terminated the wire.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I had a similar problem, and I had to check the CRX helms manual to figure it out... Let me go see what I can find out.

most aftermarket car audio places reccomend that you dont hook the dimmer wire up ... can mess your stuff up pretty easy.

After checking, I have no idea what that wire might be for... I don't think it's for the stereo, because based on your list of wires that you have hooked up, that should be everything you need...

It's not for the cigarette lighter or something, is it?

ok, I think I see something. Could it be my accessory wire because I don't have a yellow/red wire.

Yeah, then I'd be willing to be that's it... When I hooked up the deck in the sedan, I remember that I didn't have one of the wires that was shown in the wiring diagrams, and it was either the constant 12V + wire, or the switched 12V + wire... Can't remember what color the wire was though.

I ended up testing it with a volt-meter to make sure it was the right one.

the blue is usaully a remote wire like to turn on an amp when the headunit is turned on

Stock stereo wiring doesn't have a remote wire.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone, but I still couldn't get the radio to work. I don't know if it is the wiring or the radio. Anyways, I guess i'll hit my favorite junkyards for the actual harness so that I can splice it back together.

NOTE: For those that cut off the factory harnesses when hooking up a system. STOPPPPP!!!!

Only idiots dont use a wiring harness to hook up their stereos, if they think they can get more power out of a straight soldered connection. Come on people... its like .1watts of a difference.

wiring harnesses are your friend, and on any system but a SPL or SQ system you won't know the difference between a soldered line and a crimped line...

the harnesses are only like 9 bucks, and it saves you a shitload of time and hassle.
