Help me go faster
Ok here is what I have and what I plan to get. .I have a 98 civic EX
I have Short RAM intake Catback Thermal 2 1/4" exhaust I'm getting Header ( what is best? ) Cam gear ( Anything I need to know? ) Pullies ( I've seen diffrent pullies out there, what will give me more HP ) ?????? ( what else should I get to speed things up a bit like a chip or something electronic ) I am thinking about getting the cold air intake. What advantage would it give me over my short RAM. I actually see the cold air collecting more dirt and things. Thanks for your time

first, id say yes to the cai. but keep the shortram too, this way you can switch them in the winter if you wanted to. you can get a name brand intake and spend a couple hundred... or get one from checkpoint auto. under $100 and comes with a carb sticker. i just bought one and it works just the same. and it sounds alot deeper than the aem shortram i had.
header: dc sports 4-1 camgears: skunk2 or str pro(dont get aem) pulleys: aem tru-power you could also get an apex controller, thatll make vtec engagement and air/fuel ratios adjustable. and of course get it tuned after youre done. guess it all depends on how much money you want to spend.

3'short air ram give you more hp and alot better off the line over cold air intake cold str cam gear are great they have 5 bolts the skunk2 have 6 and aem has 3. the crank shaft pullie needs to be the small and lite the smallest and lightest one out there is unorthadox racing. you should get any header you want as long as its 4-1 vibrantperformance.com has some nice headers.

WHAT KIND OF DRIVING ARE YOU DOING?4-1 HEADER SOUNDS GOOD BUT WILL TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR BOTTOM END POWER 4-2-1 WILL GIVE YOU BETTER MID RANGE POWER ALL THE WAY TO RED LINE.I THINK YOU SHOULD GO WITH 4-2-1 HEADER.GET A COLD AIR INTAKE
COLDER AIR IS MORE DENSE AND WILL RESULT IN MORE POWER.THE CAT BACK EXHAUST IS A GOOD CHOICE I LIKE THE GREDDY EVO NOT TOO LOUD(98DB) AND LOOKS WICKED ALONG WITH GOOD POWER GAINS AS WELL.BUT IF YOU LIKE LOUD EXHAUST THEN THE N1 IS WHAT YOU WANT.ALL THE UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS DO THE SAME THING THEY JUST FREE UP POWER THEY DONT GIVE YOU POWER.THE ONE THAT FREE UP THE MOST POWER IS THE CRANK PULLY.I WOULD SAY GET A VAFC BUT AT THIS POINT IS NO USE TO YOU.I THINK THE NEXT THING YOU SHOULD DO IS LOWER IT A LITTLE BIT.

S13gtr is right.I learned the hard way i spent at least $2000.00 in bolt-ons and $500.00 on a NOS single fogger kit took it to the track and only ran a 14.67.and blow the engine racing a camaro.look at your options what kind of power are you looking for?what are the benifits of a SOHC-vs DOHC how much do you plan on spending?shit like that you gotta look into.then look for a good shop.some people look at the price over the quality and others look at the quality over the price.then when you find a shop go there off and on for about 2 weeks and just talk to the guys feel them out see what kind of service they provide you.look at how they keep the shop( a clean shop usually does clean work)

I've spent a pretty penny on my bolt-ons and I've only got the SOHC Vtec on my '97 Civic EX... I would def. consider an engine swap first and then your bolt-on's from that point on. Also...like what was said earlier...what do you really want...if you're looking to "run 9's"...then an engine swap is a must....if you're only looking to increase your hp/performance...then just do the bolt-on's....and dress it up a bit... At this point...do a lot of research, ask a lot of questions, and spend your money very wisely because before you know it....you're out of pocket in a big way and you only have 30-40 horse power to show for it...and that's w/out the dressing...
