when i first got my 93 240sx i wanted to race like a civic or something... well i went out and i found a integra GS-R...i thing it was like a 99 or something... well i was at a light and this was likt 11:00 pm.. well the light went green and we went for it.... well it was so skeet cus i thought i was gonna with but that guy double clutched all the way to the next light... (i didnt even know how to drive a stick that well back then, thats wy he kiked my ass so bad, cus if you can master the shifting techneqes etc. youll kik some real live ass)..... i stoped at the next light where he was waithing for me, and then we went for it again...........well since my car was slower etc. i lost again... but before we got to the next light there was like 2 cops shooting their radars at the gs-r.....hahaha he got pulled over, i drove away......(thank god my car was slow at the time, i think he was going at least 120, thats a big ticket on a 40 mph road).......

k, i was gonna post this yesterday, but i pressed back button my mouse instead of clicking on SUBMIT.

... i've read on many sites that double clutching has been mistakenly taken for power shifting and "bangin' a gear" ever since the fast and the furious part1. when vin diesel says "granny shifting, not double-clutchin like you should..." ever since this line, every kid has been going out trying to find out how to double clutch and shit.

on these same sites, it is noted that double clutching is a technique used to preserve your clutch at highspeeds. it has something to do with revving the engine to come to a certain speed before upshifting, that way it puts less stress on the pistons and conrods, and the clutch has an easier time adapting to the speeds of the engine at this point.

infact, it is common to lose about 1/3 of a second off your time. simply do to the amount of shifting required compared to how much time you can do it in. think about it, the 2nd most important reason (besides the awesome engine) why the 550 maranello spyder is quick is because the paddle shift with the electronic transaxle allows the user to shift to any gear in as little as 0.23 seconds. with no clutch either. that is pretty fucken fast.

im not entirely sure, because i didnt bookmark the sites, but if i ever come across them, ill bump em in this thread for u guys.

of course, any website is just like every other one,... made by people.. and every person with these websites can be wrongly informed.. so, u know what im trying to say.

I used to have this 95 Talon, had a cat back exhaust, cold air intake, HP header, hi flo cat, and it was dumped 4 inches on some coilovers. I raced my friend in his 95 240sx, all he had was a ghetto intake made from PCV piping. All high on my Talons power adders, I figured easy kill, he dusted me by about 4 car lengths. After that I've definitely converted back to an SX!

Double Clutching is a techinque used by big rig drivers to keep from grinding gears because their tranny doesnt have syncros and its used on a race car that is having transmission problems witch means even if you had a super man leg it stills not something that will help you in a drag race.

Doriftosx got the pattern right for doing it

ive heard some of the better drivers can shift fast without the clutch. that may be what F&F was trying to say

OMFG!!!! A newbie with a BRAIN!!!!!!!!!

Also, they simply call shifting without the clutch speed shifting. My dad can do it.

I'll give you my two best race stories, the two where my car REALLY surprised me.

This first race was my first race after I bought the LeBaron from my parents. I knew the car was fast for being a four cylinder, but I had no idea. I had been driving the car for about a week and had managed not to take it WOT. I happened to be driving in Boulder during my lunch break. I am sitting at a light and a blue Honda Prelude pulls up next to me. He then starts revving his engine and inching forward. I looked over at him and he asked if I felt like loosing. I just smiled and nodded. I brought the RPM up to about 3500 and when the light turned green I dumped the clutch and went WOT. I lost traction but I kept pulling ahead anyway. Then once I gained traction I was flat out gone. I beat him by such a large margin it wasn't even funny. I had no idea that I was packing that much of a punch under the hood. I knew I was going to kick his ass, just not that bad!

The second time the LeBaron surprised me I was driving with Neutrino down State Street in Orem on a Friday night. We pull in the right lane next to a Stealth R/T. He doesn't rev the engine, he doesn't honk, and he doesn't even ask if I wanted to race. The light turned green and he went for it. He had about two cars on me before I floored it. I never thought I would catch up but I was pulling on him and by 70MPH I was even with him and still pulling but the wuss slammed his brakes. At the next light I let him know my intentions. When the light turned green I let it loose. After I noticed he wasn't trying I shut it down. After I did he floored it and did a ricer flyby. What surprised me was the fact that my intercooler wasn't working right and hadn't been for quite sometime.

Double clutching is, like RW240 said, a technique used in any car without synchros. The only vehicles this applies to today are semis, though before the fifties there were no synchros on any cars. This will not make you go faster, actually, it will only lose you time.

The technique Dorifto was talking about used to slow down is called heel-toe braking. It goes something like this: Approaching a corner in 4th, onto the brakes with the right foot, clutch in, stab the throttle with the right side of your right foot to match the revs while keeping on the brakes with the left side of your foot, down to third, let out the clutch, repeat.... It sounds like a very complex process, and thats because it is It takes a while to master.
