If you are a 95 Civic EX owner you might/need to know

I have asked this once before but not much of knowledge people have reply, so I just want to ask again.

Where is the (OBD) diagnostic plug? It is the plug with two terminals that you can jump to get engine code from the check engine light. I believe the color code for the wires are blue and brown. The plug should be just hanging there and not connect to anything.

I know my manual tells me it's localed somewhere by the passanger kick panel, but it's no where to be found in my car. I have taken the glove box out and see if it's behind there but no luck there either.

If any 5 gen ex owner out there have found theirs please let me know and it would be great if you can post a pic also.

Also just wondering if there are any of the same model out there that has no diagnostic plug?

Thanks

Mine is in a strange spot from what I am told. Mine is hanging down from under the very bottom-right corner of the dash. (Pass. side, corner of glove box) It was just hanging there so I tucked it back under the dash, off the top of my head i want to say that it is green? I am breaking out the dig. camera today cause I just had my WHOLE car redone so I will try to throw up pic up here this evening.

Are you any good with wiring diagrams. Pull out the manual and find some different leads that are supposed to run to the harness. See if you can find those at another location and follow the leads. It might be worth a shot

Yeah, I actually followed the harness, and dig for it and found it tucked away deep inside and taped up tight in the kick panel.

Just want to say thanks for all the help.

Now that I have found the harness, what do I hook it up to to get the code that is causing my "Check Engine" light to come on ? I went to Autozone, they usually do it for free but said that my year is one of the few years that has a connector they can't hook up to.

Autozone usually only has connectors for OBD II. You can try a honda dealer, and even some mechanics have the equipment to read them. I know you can buy the diagnostic unit for it, but I'm not sure where. I'd say your best bet is to try honda first.

all you have to do to get the engine code is to jump the two terminals together and turn the key to on position (first click, engine not running).

you dont need to go to autozone or the dealer or pay anyone to do this. take a standard paperclip (not the kind with the different colored plastic crap all over it) bend it into a ' U ' shape and put the two ends of the paper clip into the two inlets of the plug. leave it there. turn your key 2 clicks (dont start the car) ur check engine light should come on solid and the go off. after that it will give u the code. every long blink is the first number in the code, every short blink is the second number in the code.
example: 2 long blinks followed by 3 short = code 23 = Knock Sensor Circuit (possible cause - Short or open in Knock Sensor circuit, bad Knock Sensor)

http://www.vtecnik-si.com/engine_code.htm

note, you can be throwing more then one code and ur check engine light will run through all of the codes. when it has reached the end of the sequence it will repeat every code over and over again, so dont think your throwing a code 234145234145 <- codes 23 41 45

Also, if it has never been used before it maybe in a green rubber sheath about 2x2 inches. There should be two plugs that look the same going into it. And it maybe pretty far up there, mine was really hard to get out because it was so far up.
