Helter Skelter 396 In Progress
Since I've finished my skyline, kinda. I recently saw the late 70's movie Catch Me If You Can. And though wow that chevelle has potential. Then I thought, why not build that car with some corvette acents lots of black and red paint, and have blood red headlights. Make it low and creepy. Heres what I've done so far... The radiator has been treated to twin electric fans and the firewall has all kinds of aluminum parts, i plan to glue some wire on the firewall for that extra touch. The exhaust system is aluminum with aluminum rear control bars. Headers needed aluminum touchup. the 396 is a red-orange, flourescently in the bottle and i thought it would look bright when dried, but not so im gonna clear coat it. I am putting red and black Z06 seats, a Z06 steering wheel, skyline gauge cluster, and a few other things this is it so far.
exhaust system turbo-jet 396 interior before pearl clearcoat, notice the corvette emblems on the back seat and steering wheel and the skyline gauge cluster Fire wall, radiator with fans, battery, open element air filter with cold/ram air tubes from a 442 cutlass. Well thats all until further updates enjoy

Hey, lots of views no replys. What's up with that? Well maybe its the pics, well I've got some more for y'all then.
Here is the interior with the pearl clearcoat job, still need to add the Z06 seats the turbo-jet 396 has a new coat of orange paint, and a shift linkage rod, i've re-detailed the forward wall with the fans and a gold box, for something, For the firewall everplace there was a molded wire, i bent some pieces of silver tube and glued over it to finish it up. the under chassis has been detailed with aluminum paint on every nut and bolt, you can't see it but the traction bars have been brushed aluminum, one of the stabalizers have been brushed aluminum and the differential has a burgunday base coat and a red top coat, the control arms and exhaust are aluminum. Thinking of brushing the diff cover alum or orange what you think? Thats it for now anyways.

Looks good, sounds strange. Never seen the movie but sounds like there is a car chase in there somewhere. Blues Brothers was the king of that
Keep the pics coming, is it a 67 Chevelle? |

69 actually... but finally some replies. Thanx for all your input, BTW, what color should the body be, chevrolet orange? or a dark flat black with a pearl clearcoat to give it the whole creepy look? Oh yeah, The reason it will be called the ''Helter Skelter 396'', is because it will be like Charles Manson, make you believe and do whatever it says...hypnotic like.

Thanx for the replies and input. It is a 69' chevelle SS396. Im still doing some work but no more updates till sunday, going fishing YAY! Anyway... the whole reason it's gona be called ''Helter Skelter 396'', is because it wil be like Charles Manson, make you believe whatever it wants you to, and make you do what it wants you to do. Still wondering about the body, Chevrolet orange, or Flat black, or Flat black with pearl clearcoat? Thanx for input again.

Ok heres 1 pic.... it's all i could do between the countless hours of fishing and walking around on ground stumbling because youve been in ruff waters the last 14 1/2 hours.... so if it looks like shit... ill fix it. I managed to squueze the Z06 seats in it... and put the motor in with the exhaust....yes i know....it needs touchups lots..but thats why you build models...so if u screw up some paint and goo gone with fix it all. now some of ya might question thise exhaust system... let me explain it to you before ya freak. Yes those are headers, and the exhaust would be fully functional if it were real. However if any of you seen the TRUCKS! episode where Stacey did the copperhead exhaust then you know what it is if not well heres how it works. On the back of the header there is a electrically controlled steel thingy that cuts the exhaust dump from the header and forces it thru the exhaust system... however when u hit the drag strip a flip of the switch will allow the exhaust to flow right out the header thereby bypassing the exhaust system...PHEW better pics to come tomorrow and maybe some body pics... if anyone has some im looking for stock 6spoke R34 rims and tires... i have the brakes i want the rims chrome 6spokes and tires PM me and well see what we can workout. thanx enjoy.
