Quick Intake Question

quick intake question take a look @ this...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634

im lookin to buy it, but I was confused...dont Si and LX models have different intakes because of the fuel injection? or is this just me? usually you see LX/DX models together and Si by thereselves...just wanted to know before bidding...is this right?

thanks

Yeah, my hood hits my intake too, but it fits...plus its from procarparts. Thats who I get a lot of my stuff through, and they are great to deal with.

Hey NJ1989SI, I got one of those cheap knockoffs from ebay, and when I put it in, I noticed more torque. I did notice a change...does AEM promise more change that what I got? I mean, how much of a difference was it between the knowckoff and the AEM?

I dont know what the difference is between the AEM and the generic ones but i would think u might get better flow from the AEM since it is a 1 piece, and the one from that other site is a 2 piece. I may be wrong but i dont know. I love my AEM CAI though.

I don't think the differences between an AEM and a generic brand are going to be THAT noticable. There most likley will be small differences because AEM uses K&N filters, while cheaper companys obvoiously use cheaper materail in their cone filters. They make twisty ones and all sorts of crazy stupid shit.

Personally, I'm going to pick up an intake as soon as I find a cheaper company that makes a CAI for 90-93 tegs. I'm going to paint it black with some temp resistant paint, or see about covering it with something different to keep temps down a bit more (not that its THAT big of a deal), and replace the filter from whatever it comes with to a K&N. I really doubt that the differnce in tube shape is what makes the power difference from a AEM to a generic brand.. So I think a cheap one will do just fine, but try and make it more like an AEM at the fraction of the cost.

I had a shorty intake on my car when I had the ZC, and then when I got the B16 but it ditched it because all it did was make noise. I went back to the stock airbox with the bottom half cut off (my very first mod ) and I didn't notice a difference. It was just as good when I cut my airbox as when I put on that hot air intake.. Minus the noise from the filter.

I don't see why people buy short intakes anymore.. Buy a CAI, buy the bypass valve.. End of worries, and colder air.

Sorry, that was a stupid long post.

seriously, its a filter on a stick!!... you're paying for a name on that stick...if anything affects the performance, its the quality of the filter...so buy a cheap stick and a quality cone filter
