Question 1979 Buick Roadhawk

Ok another H-Body question from me, lol. Has anyone seen alot of these '79 Roadhwaks around? I really would like to find a limited edition H-body car, and this is at the top of my list. Looks nice, and if i find one, i'de like to put small-block in it, unless the came with V-8s from the factory???

I think the Road Hawk came with the 231 V6 and was offered with a 5-speed manual...odd for 1979 American cars.

I have one of these cars, have had it since 1980, the car is currently in strorage and in need of restoration. The car came standard with a 4 speed manual, but a auto was an option, the 4 speed is a Saginaw. I don't think that a 5 speed was available for that year. My car came with the optional aluminum wheels instead of the ones in the picture.

79 Buick Roadhawk!

I happened to have just gotten home from Phoenix, AZ with a very fine rust-free 1979 Buick Skyhawk 'Roadhawk'. It also has the Buick D-hole aluminum wheels with all 4 centre caps and all the Roadhawk pieces are intact except for the front air dam, which is broken and missing some pieces.

I have also bought another '79 Roadhawk in PA for parts in October (but no front air dam).

And I have a line on a 3rd Roadhawk in ON that may have a front air dam I need for my stock restoration of the Arizona Roadhawk I just drove home.

Anyways, beautiful cars (but then ALL GM H-Body cars are - I also have 2 restored 1980 Chevrolet Monza Spyder's as well).

KHOEWL1 - I'd love to get a pic or 2 of your Roadhawk, if you have any, I have an extentise website on the 2nd Generation H-Body cars (1975-80 Monzas, Skyhawks, Starfires & Sunbirds) and also a full page on the Buick Roadhawk as well. http://monza.homestead.com/monza.html - [email protected]

I also moderate the GM H-BODY REGISTRY in case your interested in getting you and your Buick listed, it certainly would be nice to have another Roadhawk listed!

Anyways, nice to see another ROadhawk owner, congrats!!!

Cheers

Roadhawk's

TheModelKid

Buick made the special edition Skyhawk (called the Roadhawk) in 1979 and 1980 only. 1980 was the last year of the RWD Skyhawk and GM H-Body cars (Monza, Sunbird, Starfire, Skyhawk). Buick only ever put the Buick 231ci, 3.8L, V6 engine in the 75-80 Skyhawks, including all their special edition Skyhawks (Free Spirit, Designer's Accent, NightHawk & Roadhawk), they were never supplied with an L4 or a V8 engine. They came stock with a Saginaw 4-speed manual or a Turbo-Hydramatic 350 Automatic ... but a 5-speed (a Borg-Warner T-5 or T-50, can't recall which one offhand) was a possible option.

If your seriously looking for a Roadhawk I might be able to assist you, I bought one I'm restoring in AZ, found a Roadhawk parts car in PA and found a 3rd Roadhawk in ON. email me at [email protected] and I might be able to hook you up with a Roadhawk (not my AZ one though, lol, it's rust-free and near perfect). Cheers!

Bryan
