Cable tranny b16

Is it possible to put a b16A with a cable transmission into a 5th gen civic? The hydro transmission means an extra 1000 bucks, and for that price I'm tempted to find a '91 CRX and do the cable tranny b16 swap. I like the civic better, though, so I'm wondering if it's possible. Thanks.

Yes it's possible but the cable tranny sucks in comparison. The syncro's are better on the hydro. Also you will need a hydro to cable conversion which is, for lack a better words, a waste of money. Get the Hydro tranny. The reason you're paying more is not because of the tranny alone. You're paying for a newer engine and better tranny, not to mention 10 more hp.

Ok, thanks. But I wouldn't need a hydro to cable conversion if I put it into a '91 CRX. My budget's tight right now, but if I can get the money, I'll go for the b16A SiR II.

Yes its possible, but its going to cost you to do the conversion - which in the end wont put you that much ahead. Not to mention I dont like the way cables shift - stay hydro. Youll end up with a newer and better tranny and motor.

Is there really that big of a difference? A $1000 difference?

Exactly... not to mention youll spend $1000 in bolt ons just to extract that extra 10hp. Its worth it, not to mention the OBD change overs... and the fact its illegal to put an OLDER engine into your car. It has to be same year or newer.
