Exclamation New project. **wide body CR-X**

Amungst the other projects, I started work on my CR-X.
Thought I would be game and try and do a wide body kit from scratch.
Looks like I am about to go through a lot of putty.
I've never done this before, so I hope I am going down the right track.
Here's a pic from lastnight.
It's not gonna be that wide, I thought it would be best to have a bit to much styrne (good engrish) than not enough.

Here's those pics you guys are demanding for.

At the moment the plan is to to slant the putty to the styrene then sand for days.
This is a first for me, fingers crossed.

I think the road clearance for the car will be a bit too high, have you consider that yet? Just wondering

Good point time to bring out the dremel tool!

Oh yeah, this is what I am trying to achieve.

The guards that is not the car.

The Golf above is the Dahlback Golf an awesome car in real life...(small tidbit...The above Golf was going to bee the main car in the movie 2F2F but the owneer broke the contract when they asked him to loose ina race scene by a skyline...)

So well on the subject to get the arches you want you definately need to open the existing ones(If you don't have a dremel an x-acto and a file can do it)...having done that there are two ways...

1.Styrene and tons of Squardon type putty and then sanding e.t.c.

2.Milliput type putty for the main shape and then Squaaardon type one to merge it to the body or to fill small gaps...

Both work well but I found the second one to be far more helpful if you want to get the same measures for the right and left flares to look almost identical...

My 2 cents hope I helped...

Well I pulled off the styrene lastnight and I began filing the wheel arches, I used a half circle file to keep the same arch as the guards rather than hacking it with the dremel tool.
then I glued new strips on. (only 2)
So tonight is glueing the other side and applying lots of putty

camera died, do no pics of the syrene glued to the arches

Looks a bit rought at the mo, but I'm happy with it so far.
I'm loving the vented bonnet, as it's the first one I have done.

More as it comes to hand.
