95 Prelude Dashboard issue

(posted in Prelude section too)

Has anybody had any experiences with problems related to the 4th gens that came with the digital dashboards. I have the luminescent tach and speedo and the fuel and temp gauges are the green digital bar gauges.

The other night I thought I had seen my gas gauge at almost a quarter of a tank, but then it was back at 1/2. These bar graph gauges do kinda float like a real gauge, but this was a little weird I thought.

I didn't think twice about it until tonight when I got on the throttle coming out of a parking lot pretty fast and the fuel light started glowing. I was like.....HUH? I have 1/2 a tank according to the gauge. Then I remembered the weird thing I thought I saw happen night before last so I headed straight to a gas station......better safe than sorry.

I got to the gas station, turned the car off and then back on. The gauge did it's usual check by going all the way to the full bars, like it does any time you start the car, and then it stopped back at 1/2.

Turned it off again and filled it up and yeah brother, it was empty. 22 bucks to fill it up.

Now the gas gauge reads full, all the way to the last green digital bar. So I know it works at least to the 1/2 way point.

Does anybody know how these gauges work? I am PRAYING that it was just stuck and filling it up has "fixed" it.

Any comments about experiences with these dashboards, problems, how to solve them, etc. would be appreciated.

I can only imagine that replacing the stuff if it goes weird on me is going to cost a buttload of cash that I do not have.

Thanks !!
