95 electronic dash issue

Has anybody had any experiences with problems related to the 4th gens that came with the digital dashboards. I have the luminescent tach and speedo and the fuel and temp gauges are the green digital bar gauges.

The other night I thought I had seen my gas gauge at the bar below 1/2 and then it was at 1/2.

Didn't think twice until tonight when I got on it coming out of a parking lot and the fuel light started glowing. I got to the gas station, turned the car off and then back on. The gauge did it's usual check by going all the way to full making sure it works and then it stopped back at 1/2.

Turned it off and yeah brother, it was empty. 22 bucks to fill it up.

Now the gas gauge reads full again. So I know it works at least to the 1/2 way point.

Does anybody know how these gauges work? I am PRAYING that it was just stuck and filling it up has "fixed" it.

Any comments of any experience with these dashboards would be appreciated.

I can only imagine that replacing the stuff if it goes weird on me is going to cost a buttload of cash that I do not have.
