FD KAI Series 6 Challenge

The FD Kai Series 6 RX club of New Zealand put out a fun challange to some of the car clubs in New Zealand. Representing NZUPI( New Zealand Ultimate Performance Imports), NIZAN Drift and Drag, and finally Skylines Downunder I made the trek down to the local strip.

I came, I saw, and I conquered!

The GTR ruled the day even though I did not post the quickest time of the day. A silly boy in a EVO II wound his boost up to 2 bar+ or to 29.7 psi on a standard bottom ended engine. While he managed to top my 12.24 with a 12.19, on his next pass he blew half a piston and most of the #2 conrod out the side of the block. Ouch !!!

The track conditions were shocking to say the least. Everyone struggled all day until nearly 3pm when it dried off enough that we were only losing major traction off the line. My first two passes were bloody scary with the GTR nearly hitting the steel barrier in the right lane as I pulled second gear. The car was skating side to side wildly as I sawed on the steering wheel to maintain some sort of control. I still managed a 12.95, and a 12.88. I gave up in the end for about 2 hrs while the other cars fought for traction and control. Even a guy on a GS750 bike could only muster a 13.5! It was that bad.

At about 11:00 am that dredded RX7 which normally runs mid 11's rolled to the start line with his M/T's on and preceeded to blow his rear diff appart 10 feet off the line. He then preceeded to coast down the damn track laying diff oil all the way. After a 35min clean up racing was back on. He happened to do it right infront of me,doh! I managed to wrestle the GTR down the strip to a best thus far on the day of a 12.56. I was quite a happy considering.
After a few more passes I parked up again in hopes the track would come right more.

After lunch i went back out and it was only 1st gear I was having difficulties in. All 4 wheels spinning wildly the car kept lurking side to side violently and I had to rev 1st out longer than i like to get it under control. Second gear was holding by now and when I managed to get decently clean run it was rewared with a 12.37. The quickest on the day thus far.

After parking up again until nearly 2pm that bloody evo went out and laid down a 12.48. He was less than happy being bested by a GTR so wound the boost up and on his next pass did his 12.19. Seeing this from the stands I figured, right. let's dance pal. I turned my boost up more than usual to 1.1 bar. The first pass was a 12.33, then a 12.31, 12.29. 12.30. 12.32. Getting sick of the numbers I turned it up to 1.15 bar. That is max I can go without risking engine or turbo damage at this point. The next three passes were my last on the day. 12.26, 12.28, then the 12.24. It wasn't meant to be but heck at least I drove my car home. I did take everyone I raced as the evo shat its guts before we could square off.

All in all a good day with no damage to the car.

Best times by others.

Wicky in his turbo civic 13.11 - Traction problems until nearly half track.
Two FD Series 6 bats ran high 12's with the best being a 12.91.
A black GTiR managed a 12.7 for the #3 quick car on the day but I killed him everytime we raced.
that bike managed to get down to a 12.73 but could do no better.

As soon as I can get some pics I will post them.

Arguing on the Internet is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.
