altimas taking over

Is it just me or altimas are all over the streets now. I see alot of altimas lately with deep tints and pimped out rims. Two different times I saw them in packs of 4. Im not hating on them I think the altima is a tight car Im just surprised how popular they are. Most of them are 2.5's though. Seen a few 3.5's.

i can't understand it either. why do they even make altimas? if you're gonna get a 4 cylinder altima get the spec-v se-R and if you're gonna get a v6 altima why not get nissans flagship. it doesn't make sense to me. and i also don't understand the people who say the altima's are faster. how is it faster with 15 less hp and only 48 less lbs of body weight(5spd vs. 6 spd) i have a couple vids on my pc of 2k2 maxima's beating v6 altima's. it boggles the mind

I would bet it has something to do with the new Altimas being about $10,000 dollars cheaper than the Max. Not that I wouldn't spend the extra 10Gs myself for the Max, but it is a lot of money. They're just in two completely differnt marketing categories really. For the money I like the new Altima. They're one of the sharpest cars out there in that price range, although the new Mazda 6 is going to give it some stiff market competition I think.

2003 Altima 3.5 SE's are a bit faster than the Maxima.
I used to like the 03 Maxima better than the Altima, until
I bought my new Altima. The Altima looks better than the 04
Maxima also, maybe that is why it is selling better also.
2003 3.5 SE Altimas seem to have higher asking prices
than the 03 Maxima SE's also. Look on Ebay. There are
more 2003 Maxima SE's on there than 03 Altima 3.5 SE's,
but prices are higher on what few Altima 3.5's are on there.
Maybe also people might like the new look of the Altima
because it is a completly new car, as opposed to the 03
Maxima getting a little old. Im not the only one that likes
the Altima, sales speak for themselves.

the only altima that is faster is the one that was race prepped which happened to be 1 tick faster. for all practical purposes, max's and alti's are exactly the same. max has tranny advantage, alti has 50 lb weight advantage. it's a wash

Not too many modded out Altimas or Maximas around here. Even though I'm beginning too see more modded Maximas. But tonight I did see an Altima 3.5 SE with a Trenz grill. Funny thing was it was a women that looked like she was about 40 driving it. I was amazed!

On a side note the new Galant looks more like the new Maxima then the Ion.

The Altima 3.5 SE 5-Spd is faster than the Maxima because the Max's HP is not 255 like listed, there is a big horsepower lost for some reason in the Maxima. It only makes 240 like the Altima. Maxima.org people wanted too sue Nissan, not sure if they ever went through with it.

One reason people go with the Altima is because its a little smaller. 3.5 Altima vs 3.5 Max 03 drivers both auto I would still rather have the Max over the Alti because Max has way more features. Like one of the best navi system in the market and an option of 4 seats with heated seats in the back to keep all the pretty ladeis you are going to take home warm. Oh ya Max also has more room for fun if you get what I am saying.

I think people buy the Altima because the new Maxima is a little
ugly compared to last gen Maximas. Thats why I bought my Altima
anyway, and it also faster. The Maxima may have a nav. and the
option of 4 seats, but that about the only more it has over the Altima.

As far as size, the dimensions for both cars are very close.

Interior passenger cu ft for the Altima is 103.2
and the Maxima is 103.6 so they are about the
same size.

Also the Maxima has a much nicer interior than the cheapy looking plastics in the Altima, also there's only one comparison made of an Altima being faster than a Maxima.

Every video I have shows a Maxima smoking a new Altima, so just taking one persons word who happens to have an Altima is biased, the proof is in all of the results of these types of races.

However, no one wants to start the same garbage my Altima is faster than your Maxima all over again, so unless anyone can specifically prove that all Altimas are faster than all Maximas then you may as well not mention it at all.

a 5.9 compared to a 6.0 is hardly enough to say one car is faster than the other. slightly changing where you shift can add or take away a tenth of a second easily.

how are the video's rigged? the one i have is taken from inside the altima. why would somene throw the race to make their car the loser? i've seen 3 different vids of a max beating an altima but i have yet to see any with the outcome reversed. and the 5th gen aren't the slowest. i think the 3rd gens are probably considerably slower.

But why do profesional drivers get better times?
Ive seen alot better 1/4 times for the Altima
than the Maxima. But it would have to come down
to the driver.

I was comparing Maximas from 95 to 03, that is why I said
that the 2000 and 01 Maximas were the slowest.

I was mainly comparing the Altima with the new 04
Maxima to begin with as far as speed goes. The 04
Maxima isnt as fast as 02 or 03 Maximas.
