check engine light on hELP!
I just installed some OBX spark plug wires which a friend gave to me. I was driving around fine but today the check engine light comes on. Im guessing it has something to do with the wires but im not sure what. I reinstalled the stock spark plug wires but the light remains on. Any ideas?

If your car seems to be running ok, disconnect the negative battery cable for a minute or so. Reconnect, then start engine & check for light.
OBDII scanner is needed to retrieve codes |

An obd2 scanner is not needed to pull your codes...on the 99-00 civics (not sure if it's different than yours) there is a plug underneath the passenger glove box that has two wire going into it. It isn't really plugged into anything. Take a piece of wire and put it in both sides of the plug. Turn your engine to run and the engine light will blink, I believe a long flash is 10 and a short is 1 (ex 2 long and 3 short would be 23). It will keep repeating all the codes that have been tripped. You can look up the codes in a chilton manual...I'm sure you can find it on the net too.
Hope this helps...it has always saved me a lot of time. |
