That's up to you. I'm running stock mounts.

i am also using stock mounts. but i know that a 2.0L turbo engine tends to shake a bit more...i'll be switching to stiffer mounts later

And what would your solution be? A modified set of ES inserts?

Right now the only possible modification is the modified SE-R inserts (which i am currently running). Or fill your stock mounts with urethane (which I am in teh process of doing, already have a couple filled, and just waiting now, for them to cure). I have torn up a set of mounts already, and i don't have a turbo. But i don't think a turbo motor, and a motor with quite a few bolt ons and clutch would treat the mounts any different? As long as you go easy on the car they'll last. If you are hard on the car, they will die. Wheelhop at the track last week put the final dagger in my mounts , i'll let everyone know how the urethane turns out. So far it looks like it's going to be a very nice upgrade. Very easy too. 3M windo-weld super fast urethane Too bad it's nearly impossible to find.

Has this been tested before?

I'm a little doubtfull, but never heard of it working.

What is the best possible set of mounts (custom or not) for the P10.
Mounts that can handle the strip.

custom made urethane mounts. And they have been tested. If you look online, on say like yahoo. There are quite a few people who have used this product before. I've seen pages where they said road race engineering recommended, and sold them this stuff. I'm just letting my mounts harden now, I'll let you know how it turns out once they fully dry. Check out: http://www.raktron.com/misc/mt.htm

Well, I'm testing it on the rear mount now (the one that bolts to the firewall end of the crossmember, whatever this one is called). And I'm going to see how it does. That mount i had laying around ready to install, i just never got around to it, so i figured i'd give this 3M stuff a shot before I installed the mount. I'm kinda dumb, and i didn't fill it a little bit at a time, so i'm going to have to wait a while for it to fully cure, DOH!. But I think the wait will totally be worth it. Some globs that i had laying around that already cured are pretty stiff, i'd say about the same as the stock mounts, maybe a tad stiffer. I don't know an exact durometer of the product, but my guess is somewhere in the mid-high 80's.

Oh yeah, the saddest part is that i have the mount sitting inside my computer to cure. It's the warmest place in the apartment right now(when the case fans are turned off) and I leave my computer on 24hrs, so it'll be warm all the time hehehe... that's sad.

Technically that's the right motor mount. The front of the engine is where all the pullies are.

What 'mount' did you have laying around?

I would have done the same thing in my excitement.

Part number 11320-64j00

It's the right one. The one that attaches to the firewall side of the crossmember. I bought a new one to replace the one in my car, but living in an apartment, getting a chance to work on my car isn't as plentiful as it was when i lived at home and had a garage to work in.

Update: mount is still kinda soft where the large opening is at, but the rest of the mount is nice and solid. I can't wait!!!

What happened to the old one? IIRC you make a little booboo when you modified it?

Nothing's really wrong with it, but the SE-R insert doesn't fill the whole insert, there is still the smaller of the two openings left unfilled, and the mount was already pretty worn when i put the inserts in. It's been about a year since i isntalled the inserts, and I think the mount itself just finally gave out. I am almost positive the inserts are still ok, but i'll find out for sure when i pull everything apart later this weekend

It may be one of the side mounts that died (transmission or front mount by the pullies) but i'm not sure, yet. If the rear mount doesn't fix the rattles, then it's one of those two mounts that gave out, and in that case I'll fill those, but I don't think it's one of those mounts, just because they don't see that much abuse.
