About Radar Detectors

Please help me to choose a radar detector
I live in Mauritius,i.e Indian Ocean and I dont know if European radars will work here...Does it depend on which radar cops are using?
Advice me on a cheap radar detector which can detect radars from 1 mile away

you would have to know what freq range they are using, and what type.
