Smile Anyone from Twin Cities MN?

Hi everyone, I am just getting into the racing/tuning scene and I was wondering if anyone was from my area. It would be really cool to meet up with some locals who know their stuff and talk cars. Friday and Saturday nights on University Ave I always see decked out cars and I feel pretty dumb in my station wagon with no mods going up and trying to be cool talkin to total strangers. If anyone knows what I'm talkin about and sympathizes with this noob let me know. Thanks man!

from minneapolis

hey i live in minneapolis. ive been into cars for a few years now. ive got a 94 civic with lots of bolt-ons running about 180 hp and my brother is putting together a 5th gen hatch with a b18c1 on 75 shot of zex which runs vettes. i dont know how familiar you are with the racing scene but there are 3 primary spots: shepherd road (warner) by the excel energy center but down parallel to the river, plato (on the other side of the river) and 280 which is more of a summer spot more towards minneapolis. friday and saturday nights a prime. shepherd has been super good this year though, there have been 75-150 cars there every weekend (in the summer). lots of turbo hatches crxs on the bottle h22 civics and some pretty sweet domestics. redrock used to be the place to go but some guys died up there in a crotch rocket race so its blocked off for good. as far as getting busted its really off and on, sometimes the cops come and just wait down there so noone comes back but they rarely give tickets unless youre caught in the act. ive got a lot of good video footy from there too. 10 sec saleen vs 71 vette with a 454 on nitrous, lots of evo 8 and sti footage, some real fast hondaaaas. anyways its cool that youre getting into the scene. maybe this is all old news to you but maybe you can find it useful.

Thanks!

Yeah man, I decided to take things in to my own hands and I got in with a local Subaru group. I have been to the track up in St. Cloud and went and checked out Red Rock a couple of times, too bad about those guys. I saw that it has those big cement blockade things to slow you down. Oh well, there's lots of road out there. Next year will be fun though, hell this winter will be fun! I am going to get some rides in with a couple of STi's rippin donuts and stuff in the snow. Right now I am mostly working and going to school, but I am on NASIOC.com sometimes with the same handle: SUBSTER. You should check it out! Peace man and keep it shiny side up!

hey subster what school do you go to? im in IT at the u of minnesota. its been a warm week so the shepherd scene should be good. the key to seeing the good races there is being there early. usually when if i go to uni 1st i head down there as soon as it gets dark. its usually just a waiting game but there will be a time when all of the sudden packs of 20 or so cars swarm in and things get going. its pretty off and on as far as good racing right now, but its a nice spot cause if it gets busted or doesnt get going you can always go back to uni. thats sweet about the sti's man, they're one of my favorites. if anyone makes it to shepherd or plato this weekend im usually with some friends who drive an audi 1.8 t a 99 civic hatch with a way too loud exhaust, a jeep with a giant NOS sticker on it, and i usually drive a white 94 civic with black wheels. its actually my brother's car but he lives in boston so i get it when i want. keep racin!

I go to MCTC but live on the U campus in the Chateau. This weekend I'll be in Bemidji for a wedding so I won't be out and about. i thinki've seen that jeep w/the NOS sticker on it. Does it have NOS? That would be fun to watch him race. What color is your car? Where do you live? Mine's an ugly booger green. (wintergreen metallic says Subaru) It's stock I don't race it, but someday. I've got a Perrin air filter, bosch +4 plugs, custom grille, and Sumitomo summer tires on stock steelies. Also a 300watt kenwood amp running a California competition Ultimate 10" sub in a sealed enclosure, all tied up to a Rockford deck. Just the basics you know. Sticky rubber and some boomboom to tide me over until I get some more money. Have fun this weekend and don't get busted.
