Question cracked housing on winch?

when I took my winch out of the box the end cap on the motor end was cracked where it had hit during shipping I guess. Well warn sent me a replacement no problem but the winch is mounted in my arb and was wondering if anyone knows if when I take the two long bolts out of the end if the insides (motor) is going to fall apart? thanks for the help

I don't know. But I have a broken end where one of the cross bolts is. I was going to send it to Warn for service, but if it's easy to fix, let me know.

i'm thinking it might be easiest (and safest) to remove the winch. there are more than a few small parts, washers, seals etc, etc...
imo

thanks for the info evergreen, It was a bitch getting on in the first place so I think I will just put a piece of duct tape over the crack. It's only about 1/2" long anyway. So sorry schludwiller I will not have any info for you to go by but if you want to take it on yourself, I just called warn and told them what part was cracked and within a week I had the part

i wouldn't wait to fix it, if water gets in the housing or electrical system you'll be buying a new winch.

well I finally changed the cap on the motor end of winch. I just took it off and stood it up-right with the motor end up and took the two bolts out and put the new one on and reinstalled the two bolts. I was just careful not to move the motor around cause when them two bolts are out the whole motor is loose. overall no big deal
