Cool Spec V Upgrades

Hey,

I have a 2003 Nissan Spec V and want to make some modifications to it. I want to start with Headers, CAI & Exhaust.
Does anyone have any recommendations on each part? (i.e. stillen, AEM, Injen, etc.)

I'd like to get the most HP i can but i also am looking for the best bang for the buck.

Thanx!

Welcome

Congrats on your new Spec V.

My disclaimer is that I have not actually performed any of these mods, but I have heard a lot of talk, and here is what I recommend.

CAI - AEM
Headers - Stillen
Exhaust - Stromung
Pulleys - Unorthodox Racing
Cams - Nismo
Mounts - Place Racing
Knock Sensor - *Do it yourself*
Balance Shaft Removal - JWT kit

Anyhow, just my opinions... others will have different opinions.
The news is that Nismo now has parts out. There are awesome I am sure. Some even carry factory warranty. Whether they are worth the extra money????

Hopefully others will chime in with their opinions. If not, try searching for them with the search feature.

noooo, please stay away from Stillen for your own good, I've heard so many complaints about their products it's not even funny. The header is spot-welded, looks like sh*t, doesn't line up right, and doesn't give as good of gains as the other options like Hotshot and AEBS

other than that all the suggestions listed are good choices. For Nismo stuff, the R-tune will void your warranty and the S-tune won't. The S-tune includes things like suspension and exhaust, R-tune has intake, cams, etc (things you might actually need a warranty for... ). I replied to your email, hope it's of some help, for more info a quick search on b15sentra.net will turn up way more information than you ever cared to know

NISMO

Give Nismo a try. I am sponsored by the site in my link. I think that nismo puts the most R&D into their parts cause they only make their parts for a couple cars, but other company's like AEM, how many intakes do they make for how many different cars? They probably make a couple new ones a month.

NISMO is way to go for CAI they have a bypass valve and are only asking 349 which is same as aem or stillen in most cases.

exhaust

I would stay away from Stillen. I have heard mostly bad things. And they seem a little expensive.

I have a complete Cat-Back system from Mossy Performance.
Bolted right on. Only took about 30 minutes to remove the old one and bolt the new one on. (had a lift to help)

2 1/2" stainless pipe all the way back. Resonater is nickle plated but you won't see that unless the car is up in the air. Comes with a Stromug muffler. All nice and polished chrome with about a 3 1/2" tip.

Looks great, sounds great, easy install.

Got mine through a group buy a while ago at b15sentra.net

www.mossyperformance.com.

something like 575.00

Yo man, The price for the NISMO CAI is cheaper than the AEM and it adds more HP than the AEM

uh, the AEM is $200, I don't know how in the hell you think that's more expensive than $350 for the NISMO. There are also no dyno's either way to prove one adds more power than the other, so that comment has absolutely no basis

Yo man, I don't need no atitude. If u would like to check it up. Go to www.courtesyparts.com and check it urself, the NISMO CAI adds 11 hp at the wheels, there's no way the AEM can do that!

My bad about the HP's, but, from what I've heard, the NISMO adds more. I have a buddy who had the AEm and he switched over to the NISMO and he said that the NISMO felt plenty stronger.

Ya, thats a bunch of crap really though. If you have a CAI, a horse or two will not be noticeable. I have an 02 spec, had it for about 2 years. I have the AEM cai, and it sounds great. Deffinatly stay away from stillen, dont get anything from them.

And BTW, both the s-tune and the r-tune will void your warranty

If you want some real info on the spec v check out http://forums.thevboard.com that is where I call home, and you can find out anything you want to know about the spec
