Will i be happier with a B16 or ZC Turbo

I have read through the forums and have gained a lot of valuable information, however i would like to have your opinions first hand, cost doesn't conern me too much, however my options are a ZC (maybe turbo) or a B16A.

Currently i have an Aussie 1990 dual Carb 1.5L 4 Door and have upgraded the standard exhaust to a 2inch system and put a straight through muffler on the car and also a set of extractors which has improved the performance of the car to no end, however there is only so far you can go with a 1.5L.

question is, in comparison to the standard 92hp D15b4 (dual carb jap), will i be able to feel a major difference in power with a b16a, or am i better off with a ZC turbo (heard parts are hard to find)

I know all the deal with wiring coversions and fuel pumps, etc
going from carb to efi (which i will have to do either way).

will i be able to keep up with Fords, Holdens, V6s,etc

Thanks guys

Is turbo really that much faster then the b16a, what about cost wise, are they about the same, if you added aggresive cams, etc

it may just be me, but i really like the sound of a high revving 4cyl

is the b16 quick enough to keep up with v6s?

Turbo ZC would be way more fun, but the B16 would be a lot cheaper and more reliable.

Why turbo ZC? Why not get the b16a and save up money to turbo that instead?

yeah, the potential and part availability of the b16 is a lot better too.

but the initial install is more expensive. id go for the bigger initial investment, drive it until money is saved for the turbo setup, and then do that.

or just get a b18a and turbo it, cause you can use just about all the same turbo parts as a b16 setup, stuff is easier to get for it than for the ZC, and the motor is cheaper. still gonna have to sink a bit into the swap though

Turbo ZC - the B16A is a sweet motor, but as long as you put a decent intercooler on it wont blow in the Summer (40+ degrees Celsius for all the non-Aussies)

Geez - they're coming out of the woodwork now - where are you from in Aust?

In Canberra
In regards to cost, is it about the same for the entire b16a conversion to a zc turbo install, wanted to know if the b16a would be powerful enough cause insurance is a bitch when your under 25 with a turbo.

reason i wanted to know if it is fast cause i'm sick of nearly every driver on the road with a falcon, commodore, etc thinks they are king dick cause they have a v6, so when i go to overtake them they speed up, annoys the hell out of me, yet as soon as we come to a corner they ride the brakes like nothing else and i have to slam on mine not to hit them.

I've recently added racing seats to the car and its made the drive that much better, when i take a corner now, i don't have to use the passenger seat as a support... (i corner too fast)

i also heard somebody mention Croydon motorsports in NSW Australia made engine mounts for the b16a conversion, anybody in AUS have an idea on costs, and if this fixes the need to modify your hood for clearance, thanks again

Canberra eh? Just ring Croydon - they'll let you know but I think its about 600 bucks for the mounts off the top of my head. We may have a cruise of a few 4th genners and other Honda fans to Wollongong - feel like a trip north?

Get the b16, you'll beat most v6's out there.
