knock sensor removal

i removed my knock sensor today and here are some pics and directions to help.
1. jack car up so you can easily get under it.(removal of tire not needed)
2. look up between A arm and center brace on passenger side
3. knock sensor is under the 2nd intake tube from your left attached to the block

4. unpug the sensor, there are two wires, black/red clear copper
5. take a 500,000 ohm resistor and put it between the two wires and ground the black/red wire the the block. there is and empty hole on the block just to the left and below of the knock sensor. find a bolt that fits in and use that as a ground.

6. solder and heatshrink/ tape all of your conections so you dont get corosion. splitlume your wires for more protection.

7. zip tie or tape the wires out of the way and so there is no slack in them.

i only drove for 20 minutes and i didnt get a check engine light, so things seem good, i also did my CAI at the same time and my car seamed alot smother in throtale response.

Hey where did you find the 500,000 ohm resistor?

we have resistors at my work but im sure you could get one at radio shack. if they dont have a 500k ohm you can take a 300k and a 200k and put them in series or any other combination to get 500k. after driving my car more, i have noticed a little better throtal responce and alot less bogging down. i have not yet got a check engine light but my car does sometimes idle down to 500 r's sitting at a stop light with a/c off and stereo down. so i dont know what that is but if you bypass your knock let me know if it happens to you too.

i would really rather get a 500,000 if you have can tell me where ot get one that would be great radio shack does not have anything even close and our parts dept does not stock anything any where near that big. Does your work sell them????

hey!! just to let you guys know that i have been geting alot better gas milage too. i used to get about 25 mpg no matter how i drove, and now i am getting abuot 30 mpg. so it is also good for your car to get rid of that damn over sensitive thing.
