I killed a little boy last night

I own a fifth gen accord. It is eukalyptis green, but the lower valance and side skirts aren't painted. Has anyone ever painted them and had positive results. Or does it look cheap because the stock side skirts would stand out like a bee stung panis? Just wondering if anyone ever pulled it off sweetly. Or would the golden ticket make the chocolate taste awful?

I painted the door handles, side trim, skirts, and liscense plate area and you wouldnt believe how different it makes the car look. My civic is Frost White so its a little easier than say an emerald green to find close paint. Since all the parts were plastic, I used this paint by Krylon called FUSION. Its made for plastic and says "no prep or sanding, ultrabond" All which are good when painting these kind of things. Then I took it to the local car painting place and had them repaint that area over again. The second step is optional, but when I paited it with cans, the colors where damn close. It only cost me 30 dollars for 5 cans of paint and a roll of blue painters tape. It also took a good 3 hours to tape off everything. FYI cover up everything!!!! Overspray is a bitch! Clean all the parts to be painted with thinner or mineral spirits, and cover everything!! The Krylon FUSION comes in gloss White, black, red, blue and green. There may be others out thought. They sell it at Ace hardware or some Michaels Stores. It also works great as a pait for interior parts. Hope I helped.

painting isn't that hard to do. it's practically fool proof. i painted my skirts not so long ago (4 weeks ago). here's a little tutorial i wrote up.

MATERIALS:
1. side skirts
2. primer spray paint (i used gray color so i can tell the areas i've miss)
3. spray paint

STEPS:
1. take side skirts off car (there are 2 screws in the front wheel well and a few under the side skirts. after you unscrew the screws, you need to push the side skirts toward the back wheel well so it'll come off the car)
2. wash the dirt off side skirts
3. sand (be sure to use fine grain sandpaper for all sanding)
4. wash the dust from sanding and let dry
5. primer (spray lightly, make sure it doesn't drip)
6. sand the excess primer
7. wash the dust off and let dry
8. primer (an extra coating makes it better)
9. paint (spray lightly, make sure it doesn't drip)
10. sand the excess paint off thus making the surface smoother
11. wash the dust off with a wet rag (make sure the side skirts are dry before repainting)
12. paint (spray lightly)
13. gloss paint (spray lightly, it took over 6 coating per side to make it shiny )
14. put side skirts back on car

it turned out better than i thought. the spray paint (aluminum color) matched my car very closely. the only thing i would change next time is to use a little finer grain sandpaper and paint more coatings (ran out of spray paint ). i think i also lost a few screws

Was wondering, regarding your tutorial towards the end when you spray the moldings w/"gloss paint"...are you referring to clear coat or aluminum "gloss" paint.

If you were referring to clear coat - then your tutorial is pretty much dead on...

If you were referring to gloss paint - then I would suggest a few coats of clear coat as one of the last stages in yoru process...
