revell civic custom tuned w/ turbo kit (pics)

hey this is another one of my current projects.. a revell civic. let me show you some of the few pics I have of this model so far. the paint is GREY primer with tamiya bright orange (3 coats) then 2 coats of boyds grape-pearl. let me know which direction you all think this model should head. opinions on the rest of the build are welcome...

Looks very nice! one piece of advice i think you should paint the underside of the hood it takes away from the beautiful engine bay.

That's a nice Civic. What was your paint technique though? I can see where the paint has collected in the recesses and edges.

yes, my friend this is exactly what happened. I gotta tell you that I think it looks cool as it fades from a darker purple to a lighter purplish orange. Its not some amazing paint job (i don't have the skill for an amazing paint job) but for what its worth it came out pretty sweet color (look at the front bumper there)

the technique was basically after primer coats and 3 coats of bright orange, I applied a thicker coat of grape-pearl over it. I was thinking it was 2 coats but now that I sit here and really think about it, I honestly think I only sprayed one thick coat of the grape-pearl

Actually, now that i think about it, Warren said he had trouble with the TS Bright Orange, comes out all blotchy!

yeah it was terrible, so the purple was kinda like me trying to save the model before having to go the "brake bath" route. I am satisfied with it, I am not looking for perfection out of this model, just a real good build. and I'm not that great at spraying the body anyways so if it comes out smooth enough it gets left alone (aint broke don't fix it)

ITR wheels look cool on a Civic coupe, but yours deserves better (read: fancier), IMO.

what do you suggest? I'd prefer not to have to make frankenstein wheels, I have all the wheels from the civic and teg kits to chose from. but if you have something else in mind, do tell!

Those 8-double-spoke wheels from the ITR kits look good on almost anything...

jay, I just don't know which one's you mean. not the 5 stars, the ones with all the straight spokes radiating out like a wagon wheel? or the BBS racing type ones?
