Unhappy key fob

If anyone has replaced their stock security system, and has a key fob for a '98 maxima, i would love to not buy a new one for $110.00. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are there more than one type of Nissan key fobs? I have an origial fob, with 4 buttons, that works, and is labeled as Model 01A. I got a new one, which has 4 buttons and looks very similar, but doesn't have a model number on the back. The new one is not accepted by the reprogramming procedure, even with a new battery.

there are more than one depending on what year your maxima is. there are also different variations of the FOB among models. like sentra to maxima, etc

Cool

Thanks. The new fob came from a Sentra, so that must be the problem.
