In simple terms, China controls what happens in N. Korea. If China wants to sit this out (which they were initially, but no longer) then Japan becomes the key player. North Korea wants nothing to do with Japan. However, if they do develop the bomb then Japan will change its policy (more then likely) to also aquire them. That would scare China more then the N. Korean situation ever would.
I imagine that N. Korean troops will be streaming south at Jong-ils command before the end of next year. ![]()

North Korea has been developing these weapons a long time before the US was ever involved with Iraq or Afghanistan.

if you're talking about the Long Range Missles you'd be right but at the moment it has only become so increasing high profile since the Invasion of Iraq.

Maybe, and I'm just guessing here, that North Korea doesn't want to get invaded by the US.
They're prolly. thinking that since they did some bad shit like the stuff that Iraq and Afghanistan did they want some insurance to keep the US away from their borders. Or maybe North Korea is just talking shit since nothing has ACTUALLY been proven. *shrug*

Don't forget that North and South Korea have never finished their war from fifty years ago. There are a million N. Korean troops sitting on the border right now. There are 100K South Koreans and about 32K Americans on the other side. This has been the case long before Saddam ever came to power three decades ago. Tell me again who is set up to invade who?
Remember when South Koreans president was running for election, he kept saying he wanted to have the US troops head home. After he won, Rumsfield said that maybe it was time to bring the troops back. Suddenly the new president was singing a different tune. The troops are used as a scapegoat for some of the politicians over there but when they actually have to decide between asking the US to stay or basically watching the N. Koreans stream across the boarder - we saw his tune change. That’s not to say that’s North Korea will not invade the South again nor does it mean that nuclear facilities in the north won’t get taken out (ala Israel’s bombing of Iraq’s facilities many moons ago). What I do want to stress is that this situation has been brewing for a long time. Its decades old. I’m sure that the Iraq situation provides N. Korea with more excuses, but the only thing to change is that their attempt to build nuclear weapons is in the open instead of behind closed doors.
