thats a good idea. change the grill completely but then i would want to shave the licence plate recess but i already have this beautiful custom paint job and the front end would have to be painted again. hhmmmm... maybe

I think the metal transfer which come with the kit look pretty good. However, if you eant something that looks a little different, then go for the shaved look.

Well.... if you have to repaint it then why not also modify the hood. I saw one on Super Tuner TV the other day that covers the tops of the headlights at an angle, the froint of that car looked way mean.
I really like your pain though, so maybe you can just shave it and do a touch up then you have an excuse to do a second one more customized.
Gee maybe thats why i have 100 or so kits and 15 or 16 projects going????????

HAHA yeah if you look at my post in the "completed or in progress" (page 2) youll see i suffer from the same problem. ive got so many cars in the works (many more than in the pics). i have enough unbuilts to open a small store. by the way... that Golf you saw with the custom hood.. its called a roll over and it would be sweeeet.... s@$t please dont give me any ideas. if i have to do any repaint i prefer to be able to mask on the front panel lines.

any suggestions for an after market grill? by the way i have already done the interior in a dark/light gray color scheme. if i shave the entire grill what should i do with it? pics would be nice! havent seen to many after market grills for this VeeDub. of course i can custom build one but i need some reference. thanks again

I dont like the look of the shaved pic...doesn't look right IMO.
I found the decal that comes with the kit OK and you should go with that.

I think Model Car Garage has a detail set for the New Beetle that might have the badges you need.

The current VW tuner trend is to swap to 'euro' badges on the Golfs and NB's (blue background instead of the normal white).

I think I'll change the ones on my current NB WIP from a complimentary color to a contrasting color...

thanks alot Ferrari TR!!! i didnt think about the new Bug as a possible source for after-market emblems. by the way.... the reason i dont like the PE that came with the Golf is that A: they are very "crisp" meaning the edges arent round out... there too sharp. B: between the VW and the circle there should be a recessed "accent line" to define the letters from the circle but the PE is flat and not detailed. i am to picky i guess
