Talking What now?

Well I havent had my civic for more than a month but i just started to get some add-ons to make it just a wee bit faster =P. This is what I have so far:

Lowered Suspension (Coil Overs Springs)
VSA RACING 17" Wheels
Alarm System
HI ENERGY Spark Plugs Wires
AROSPEED Cold Air Intake
Comptech Headers
Tachometer
Ractive H021RD Strutbar
Tinted Windows
Rear Spoiler

So what should i get next? (On the inside.. or out)

P.S. Where can i get "redline" shift points for my car ( 2000 Civic EX )

You got intake, and headeR, so now get cat-back exhaust. I like your car, very clean!

hmm

thats what i had in mind also, it just seems like ALOT of money for a not-so big increase in power.

Are there any "special" types of exaust or is it all mostly priced on looks?

Also, whats the differnce between cat-back exaust compared to standard?

wow, i love my cat-back exhaust and i noticed a difference in power and HP right away. plus you gotta love the sound of a cat-back exhaust. A cat-back exhaust is from the cat all the way to the muffler (and including the muffler obviously). So its a series of pipes and the muffler.

I'm not sure what you mean by "standard" but im guessing you mean just the muffler. Just a muffler doesnt do hardly anything for you if anything at all.

Get a lower end Greddy or something that looks more 'stock' (where you can see the big muffler). You'll noticed the horsepower gains and not get all that loud 'ricer' noise. Though, if you get a GReddy evo or an RS*R you'll get a nice deep tone rather than the rice. people have said good things about Apex'i on here too...

I have a thermal exhaust on my car and i love it.... paid about $500 shipped i tihnk. Greddy is too expensive you are paying for the sticker they give you.

I reccomend thermal exhausts, nice deep low sound

Actually, my friend's GReddy Evo was $500 shipped (www.groupbuycenter.com) and I was looking at RS*R exmagIIs for $550 shipped... best thing I can say is look up sound files on people's exhausts to see what sounds good to you

EDIT: man, those thermal exhausts look sweet as hell if nothing else; didn't know the brand so I looked 'em up. I wanna see some dynos on those...

check out www.racerbots.net they have a lot of sound clips. i personally would recommend the hks hi-power. i never sounds raspy at all. its always deep and low even when i take it up to 8k rpm. i paid only $495 instead of the $600 most places were asking. i got it from zeman motorsports in WI, hit him up his aim is zeman216. he has very good prices.

Gonna have to disagree with you there. The Thermals I've heard are pretty gargly. My friend has a 00 EX with a Greddy and it sounds insanely good. Not too loud at all, even with his turbo. I have an Apex'i and it's very deep, but I'd take his Greddy over mine because it looks cleaner and has a tighter sound to it.

A "standard" is just a big muffler welded onto your stock peahole exhaust. Makes it slightly louder but messes up performance a bit because of the piping diameter going from header (big) to piping (small) to muffler (big).

Anyone here have/know anyone with a custom pipe? I have a friend with a 2.5" pipe he got from an exhaust shop and it sounds like the most ass ever.... A) its so loud that you have to shield your ears when he passes you B) when he lets off the accelerator the car sounds like its choking... makes this gargling noise I've never heard anywhere before. Just currious if anyone had heard of something like that

Yeah when people say they have muffler shop exhaust I just laugh to myself. You get what you pay for.

yea, problem being he's offering it to me for $20.... and I don't have the money for something real for a while. Gah! is it worth it? especially on my puny engine... the low Delta P will prolly kill my power wouldn't it?

Is it mandrel or crush bent? For $20 I'm guessing crush bent, so the delta pressure will be all screwed up. You don't have a race motor so I doubt it will change anything power-wise, but the sound waves will be bouncing all over the place = gargle gargle gargle.

I sees. You don't think it would affect my power? I thought small engines, like in civics, pretty much needed all the pressure they can get... I barely remember the article I read on that tho
