Would you actually see an increase in HP though?

Its like getting a cold air intake for your car but better

Well, it cools the hell out of the air coming out of the turbo, and we all know colder air = more HP. Pretty decent gains, depending on what type of intercooler you are using. Is it side mount or front mount? Font mounts are typically better, they are larger but more expensive. Of course, if you really wanted to, you could front mount a side one.

ok, so from what i understand is that its like a cold air intake which condenses the air thus fitting more into the engine and that equals abigger boom.....a problem i was thinking of is that adding more air into the engine would require more fuel and it makes a bigger bang, but if your already worried about your internals and assume most people dont have the money to fortify their blocks wouldnt this be just like adding a small shot of nos right into your engine??? thus risking the breakage of stock internals???

I wouldn't worry about internals. Intercoolers are very common. Most cars that are stock with turbos have intercoolers...and a lot of them have small engines. If you really are worried, don't set the boost too high. The only purpose of the intercooler is to cool the air.
And about the NOS, they make something like that FOR the intercooler, but it's CO2. It's an add-on to the intercooler that sprays it in like NOS, I believe it's safer though.

I don't know if I'll be much help to you at all because I'm still learning also, but I currently have a 98 GSR too w/ a T3/T4 turbo that was just installed back in May. I have a Spearco FMIC and I believe that it helps a lot. I bought the kit used from a friend and I remember my boyfriend refusing the put it on until we got the intercooler polished because he felt it was important. I'm only running 7 PSI on stock internals and I haven't had any problems yet. But I would rather be safe than sorry...meaning spending the money to cool the air way down instead of taking the chance on damaging something in result of the temp. It sounds like it's all for show but in actuality it's not. It's called being safe and taking prior precautions to make sure your stuff will last. Especially if you decide to build your car and raise the PSI, you'll eventually have to get an intercooler running anything more. (just a guess). As far as knowing if there is a difference in HP, I'm not sure but I would imagine there is. Have you ever felt how a car drives when it's 90 degrees out compared to when it's 70 (depending on where you live)? I would say that w/o an intercooler, those 70 degree days feel like 90 to your engine. But that was my 2 cents from a fellow GSR owner. Good luck and let us know what you plan on doing and how it turns out.

It is a very worthy investment. Not only will it prolong the life of your engine and turbo you will feel a difference in power. It cools the intake charge temperature. This improves efficiency and colder air means more power. Also at the drag strip it is allowed since it will not affect the track any like the water sprayers do.

I used to be a scheptic myself. I bought a $20 talon intercooler on ebay, made an $8 scoop for it and gained about 15 horsepower. Now that is cost effective hot rodding. My charge temp dropped from 192 to about 92 degrees at 8 pounds boost. That means everything inside the engine will run 100 degrees cooler, including exhaust valves, which is a very good thing. The biggest plus is that with cooler combustion temps, you are just that much further away from detonation, which is usually the biggest problem to deal with on a turbo/supercharged engine.

What did your "Ntercooler" come with? Was your bottle separate? Where did you mount the bottle and where did you run the line? How do you adjust how much CO2 th use?
