Should get Apexi Downpipe???

I am buying the Apexi N1 duals... was wondering if I should also buy the downpipe as well (if it actually improves performance dramatically...)

Question Would it work well with NA?

My car is NA right now but will it work well with NA?
I am trying to get my whole exhaust system ready for my Sr20det swap which is very close. Id say in less than 4 months the "Deed" will be done. I know I should have bigger piping but I dont want to big of piping so thats why I am getting the N1 Duals.

What exactly does a downpipe do? How does it improve performace? I assume it hooks up to the turbo, but what else?

it basically gives you the straightest pipe to your exhaust system, increases airflow, and that is always good, usually it gives more highend power rather than low end

this is from http://www.geocities.com/tunerscorner/turbo.htm

Quote:
- Downpipe and Exhaust - 3" or larger downpipes and exhaust optimize turbo breathing and allow for better heat extraction, spool up, and longer turbo life. Power also can be boosted considerably top end with a larger diameter system. Beware alot of the gains on a turbo car ... ex. 55whp on a Supra w/ downpipe addition is from boost increase, not the part itself. Generally a downpipe will create 1-3 psi more boost on a stock computered and controlled vehicle. Using a 3" downpipe on stock exhaust is not recommended as it can create boost spiking which can potentially damage a motor, especially if the rpms are low and the motor is still on its low fuel and ignition maps.
If anybody is a bit curious about turbocharging I recommend taking a look at the link I posted.Google is your friend too

Definatly you cant put this on a NA car. After you have the swap hell yea. One thing in mind also that I faced, make sure you have a big enough turbo outlet. The one I have in now is too small and restricting the flow. Greddy makes an aftermarket one.
