Got the camera working again: Finished 1960 Ford Starliner

Well, I'd say this is one of the prettier cars I've built in a while thanks to the luscious nail polish paint job. I love the pearl effect (which is actually captured in a few of these photos) and the stance works great, too. The kit was built box stock except for a set of Goodyear ZR40's out of a Dodge Stealth and I turned the front kingpins upside down to lower the nose. I think it helps the look of the car a lot.

The only problem with this kit was that it used up half a sheet of bare metal foil

did you actually use nail polish?? did you have to prime the body before doing it?

Yep, I use nail polish (Wet 'n Wild brand mostly, since it's a buck a bottle at the dollar store and comes in all the wild colors hookers like) and cut it to a 60%thinner/40%polish mix with hardware store lacquer thinner.

You DEFINITELY have to prime, though, since the lacquer tends to eat through the plastic.

However, the plus side is that the paint is dry and fully cured in about two hours. Plus it is nearly impossible to get runs.

I love the cars from this era, stick on a jet engine and they would be aircraft, the colour is also excellent. I had my first outing using nail polish recently and you are right, its a dream to use. Great job

How do you put it on, by brush, or by spraygun? Do you use anything to polish it afterward, or leave it as is?? I am very interested in tryin this method, it seems like a really cool effect can be acheived.

He poors the whole bottle of nail polish up his ass and then farts it out onto the model. Couldn't help myself.

Okay, I think he thins it down like he said then he airbrushes it onto his model.

I'm also interested in how you apply the nail polish, I always thought it was too thick for painting models. Also interested in knowing exactly what other colors hookers like.
