BMW 318i

Hey all I am writing this as a favor for a friend of mine. He's got an OBDI 318i that will not rev past 4600rpm. We've changed the plugs & filter and nothing changes. He apparantly brought it to a BMW garage and they plugged in the computer quickly for him and there were no codes, no CEL either. Just wondering what we can try. I'm convinced it's in limp home mode but I don't know why. Thanks!

Try fuel filter or fuel pump? I suggest just taking it to a dealer/mechanic and letting them fix it.

Re: BMW 318i

What engine does the car have? This sounds like it could be a knackered camshaft. I know the M40 engine is prone to camshaft wear.

Hey Ronny, the last post in this thread was in 2001, over three years ago! Probably whoever had this problem has solved it by now! (Hopefully they are not still stranded by the side of the road somewhere.)
