Question Questions about HX

Anybody know much about the HX model? I'm looking to switch from my 96dx 4dr auto into a manual ex coupe when i came across this 97 hx and was wondering if this would be good. I heard they are kind of hard to mod performance wise (any truth to this?) If anybody could give me the basic rundown on an HX it would be appreciated. Thanx

Yup I have a 99' HX and i like it. Most ppl will tell you its hard to modify which is true, but it doesnt mean you cant modify it. EX's have a 127HP vtec enigne. HX's have 115HP and its a vtec-e(economy) engine. Because it is a car meant for economy alot of companies dont make parts for it. Most ppl say that you cant make an HX fast and its not worth getting one. BUT there is a guy on this forum who has a HX and runs a 14.7 1/4 mile. For awhile i was looking at doing an engine swap because i got in my head HX's are slow and not worth modifying in any way. I still may do a engine swap in the future but for now im sticking with my HX engine, its surprises me and other ppl everyday. I thought i couldnt win in a race with hardly anyone... i havent raced very tough cars but i have between a golf, 3 different types of accords, and a few other minor cars. And it wasnt close most of those races. I have a thermal cat-back exhaust and my car is lowered, and I got an Injen intake on the way. So i think if you like the HX why not? But it will be easier to modify an EX and you get that extra HP, plus you can turbo or supercharge an EX you cant do that to an HX. However you can add nitrous to an HX if you want, even tho i dont think id reccmend it lol.

So basically you will notice a NICE difference from driving that slow, heavy, automatic DX civic whether you go to a HX or EX... but dont let anyone say you cant make a HX fast!
