Perth - Boy racer articles in The West

The West trotted out another lot of boy racer articles in today's paper. One line in particular amuses me: "young men are driving in cars 4 times as powerful as a typical family sedan". Erm.....what the..!?!? A few perhaps do drive ~600kW cars around the place but to generalise like that is sooo sensational.

It just feels like they do this at least once a year when there's not much news happening. At least they didn't do the tired stereotype of Asian car gangs racing for money, cars and *shock horror* women! I like to buy that for a dollar! But that'd make for a cool movie from HK tho....erm, wait think they did that already.

It said we Drive V8 Turbo's!! Hahaha, it was a brilliant Article, it opened my eyes to what it is like on the street, and what it means to be a Rolla Boy.

I love Being a Boy Racer,

i liked the bit about v8 turbos getting around. It was a dirty play aswell having one page about Roller boys cruse's and the next on street drag racing it sounded like they were twisting the two stories together.

Definitely think that the Rollaboyz would not be happy with the way the story on them was used in the context of the "collage" of articles. They were probably thinking that finally a mainstream newspaper was doing a cultural piece on the modified car scene, but no - 'twas too good to be true.

And yeah turbo V8s....wooooo. Would be awesome if there was one on the road! :finger:

The only V8 twin turbo's i can think of are Judge (RIP) and the Maserati spyder. Not too many rice boys in those!!!

I also loved the bit about how the West nows of atleast one car on Perth's streets with more power than Micheal Schumakers formula 1 car (750Kw), the only car I can think that even comes close to that in Perth is Lee Sanders' RX3. Although they did mention that they weren't implying that it was used in this sort of activity.
But yeah I dont really think that 400-600Kw road cars are that common, you could probably count the ones in Perth on your fingers and toes.

Cheers.

What about Tassone's Torana?? That got just under 800hp at the wheels and that is street registered. It wouldn't surprise me if the west went down to the street meet drags and talked to guys about their cars and then added them to the 'boy racer' articles......

Though I do hear the night draggers around Canning Vale (1, 2 o'clock in the morning). They are almost always big V8's or Rexes....

We should go to some illeagl drags, or orginize our own for our next cruize, and bring the Newspaper reporters with us. We could get pictures of our cars in the newspapers doing burnouts. Ohh wait that has already been done. Those V8 guys in the newspapers are idiots posing for the cameras like that!

I love being a Boy racer, I have upgraded from a BMX bandit.

the bastards

man i they just turned alittle to the left there would of been my skyline and the lovely big SDU sticker for all to see in the paper.

the journos were in a AU falcon and white camry, they also tipped off the cops as to the route of the cruise. the RB runs are getting quite boring as they are just point to point, but its nice to relax now and again.

usually there well behaved, don't know where in the convoy those lads where for all the wheels spins and burnouts and speeding. Cause the bunch i ended up in where all cruising nicely on the speed limit letting other in and being all nice and driving like grannies (no offence intended, just saying everyone was being good drivers)
