98 Grand Am Wiring Diagram??

Hi,

I was at the junkyard last weekend and I salvaged an AC Delco AM/FM/CD Player w/ Equalizer unit from a 98 Grand Am. I want to install it into my 97 Plymouth Voyager....Since both are GM cars, it fits right into the dashboard opening.. but I don't have the wiring diagram for the Grand Am, so I dont know which wires to splice together for the speakers, power, and dimmer switches.... I have the wiring diagram for my Voyager, but I need the one for the Grand Am.

Can someone post the wiring diagram or the color coding for the stereo for a 98 Grand Am ?

thanks,

sleepy floyd

you don't by chance know how to set the Theft Loc code.. Obviously it wasnt set before, and I don't have the manual as it wasnt at the junkyard.

DELCO RADIO CODE RETRIEVAL

PRESS AND HOLD #2 AND #3 STATION PRESET FOR 10 SECONDS OR UNTIL A 3 DIGIT CODE DISPLAYS - WRITE THAT NUMBER DOWN

PRESS AND HOLD AM/FM BUTTON FOR 10 SECONDS OR UNTIL A 3 DIGIT CODE DISPLAYS - WRITE THAT NUMBER DOWN

CALL YOUR LOCAL GM DEALER - THEY WILL CALL AC/DELCO TO CONVERT THE CODE TO THE THEFT UNLOCK CODE

ONCE YOU HAVE THE 4 DIGIT CODE ENTER IT INTO THE RADIO AS IF YOU WERE SETTING THE CLOCK THEN PUSH AM/FM BUTTON ONCE AND THE POWER BUTTON ONCE. RADIO WILL UNLOCK.

uhh.. thanks john, but my system isnt locked ....
I was looking for instructions on how to set the code. Or is each code factory set?

as you can see, I'm not really sure how it all works, since I got the radio from a junkyard.

v/r,

sleepy floyd

The theft loc code is set at the Delco Factory, if your radio is not locked then I am not sure why. There are no user settings for what the code is.

ok thanks.. it works fine now.. I guess I wont worry about it as long as it doesnt lock up.

I just wanted to make sure I knew how to enable the theftloc, so that I didnt accidentally set it and not know the password.

Activating the Theft Deterrent Feature
________________________________-__________________________
The following instructions explain how to enter a secret code in order to activate the THEFTLOCK™ system. Read through all 9 steps before starting the procedure.

Important
If you allow more than 15 seconds to elapse between any of the steps, the radio display will automatically revert to time and you must start the procedure over at Step 4.

Write down any 3 or 4 digit number from 000-1999. Keep the number in a safe place separate from the vehicle.
Turn the ignition to one of the following positions:
ACC
RUN
Turn the radio OFF.
Complete the following steps:
Press the 1 and 4 buttons together.
Hold the buttons down until - - - shows on the display.
Refer to the secret code number that you wrote down.
Press MN. 000 will appear on the display.
Press MN again in order to make the last 2 digits agree with the code.
Press HR in order to make the first 1 or 2 digits agree with the code.
Press AM/FM after you have confirmed that the code matches the secret code that was written down. The display will show REP in order to let you know that you need to repeat steps 5-7 in order to confirm the secret code.
Press AM/FM. This time the display will show SEC in order to let you know that the radio is secure. The indicator by the volume control will begin flashing when the ignition is turned OFF.
Unlocking the Theft Deterrent Feature After a Power Loss
Complete the following steps in order to enter the secret code, pausing no more than 15 seconds between steps:

LOC appears when the ignition is ON.
Press MN. 000 will appear on the display.
Press MN again in order to make the last 2 digits agree with the code.
Press HR in order to make the first 1 or 2 digits agree with the code.
Press AM/FM after you have confirmed that the code matches the secret code that was written down. The display will show SEC, which indicates the following conditions:
The radio is now operable.
The radio is secure.
If the wrong code is entered 8 times, INOP will appear on the display. You will have to wait 1 hour with the ignition ON before you can try again. When you try again, you will only have 3 chances to enter the correct code before INOP appears.

Disabling the Theft Deterrent Feature
__________________________________________________ _____
Enter the secret code as follows, pausing no more than 15 seconds between steps:

Turn the ignition to one of the following positions:
ACC
RUN
Turn the radio OFF.
Perform the following steps:
Press the 1 and 4 buttons together.
Hold the buttons down until SEC shows on the display.
Press MN . 000 will appear on the display.
Press MN again in order to make the last 2 digits agree with the code.
Press HR in order to make the first 1 or 2 digits agree with the code.
Press AM/FM after you have confirmed that the code matches the secret code that was written down. The display will show - - -, indicating that the radio is no longer secured.
If the code entered is incorrect, SEC will appear on the display. The radio will remain secured until the correct code is entered.

When battery power is given to a secured radio, the following conditions occur:

The radio does not turn ON.
LOC will appear on the display.

You have to enter your unlock code. After 3 attempts the radio will lock up and no more trys will be allowed until the car sits running or with the key on for 1 hour then you will be given 3 more chances.

if you don't know your code the back up code will have to be gotten out of the radio and there is a 1-800 number for the techs to call to get your right unlock code.

Hi,
I sell this unlock code a lot cheaper than anyone else, including the dealers. I sell them for GM, Saturn, Buick, Pontiac, Geo, Chevy (Chevrolet), Oldsmobile, GMC, and many other makes. Take a look at these pages...
