Finished Funky Van (Honda S-MX Lowdown)

This little fun van will take you to funkytown in no time!

Now boasting a nice metallic blue paintwork, some smooth deep dished rims, a decent stereo system and nice and clean interior with some aluminium and chrome accents, it's THE vannest of all minivans .

I think it's not only me who has these tons of semi-finished kits laying around in boxes, in pieces around the room...

Well, I started this kit about one big year ago, but never had the courage to finish it, not because it's so hard, but because I just didn't feel like finishing it .

I thought it would look ordinary, quite in the shadow of my other racecars.
But, au contraire, it turned out to be a great , nice, and most of all funky little model!

With some modelifications, like the homemade rims, I tried different techniques (thanks to Laurent for those )
The rims are supposed to be deep dishy rims, with those (I don't know what you call them, but those pins that hold the quick-release bolts on. They were quite popular in our part of the world some time ago in the tuning scene, and I thought what the hell, it's a try-out model...

I think it turned out pretty well, only thing is that they have been painted gunmetal from the paint brush...

So the car is the Honda S-mx lowdown from Tamiya, painted Telefonica Blue over matt black to give it that deep blu-ish shine , and compounded (first time ! )

some other mods were the exhaist system, and some detail painting in and under it .

Pretty much box stock.
Oh, and I forgot to add the licence plates...
Tell me what you think!

Olivier

Expect some nice finished projects from me soon !

Olivier

The centre of the rims are originally from the Tamiya Alfa GTV , and I used GTI 1800 's technique with the styrene to make it wider.
Then I filled the nutholed with putty, and put on a screw and a fastener like in the BTCC.

Thanks for comments!

Very cool model!! It's got a lot of character. Would be cool if you added some interior junk to make it look 'lived in.'

Nice Van!! I got this on the SAME color!!

Did you make it steer-able?? The first picture looks like it is.
I got this model too and Tamiya make this model non-steerable.
