Question Questions about Garage MAK Silvia

I ordered the Garage MAK Silvia last week and I chose EMS.

Through all that confirmation stuff and all that other junk it seems to have already arrived at the airport/destination place yester day.
I'm excited because the airport it arrived at is one state away from where I live.

Now on to the S15. From what I recently heard from stump is that it's not good. I expected that a little but I want to put a lot of work into it to make it look good.

What I want to know is is the parts/resin so bad it's beyond repairing.

Is the parts/Resin bad but with a little sanding and putty work I can fix it.

Is it accurate?

Since it's Fujimi I expect it to be nothing like Tamiya but I'm ready to try to improve it.

THX ahead of time.

The front and rear look cool, but the side skirts look chunky. Id cut the stock ones off then put it on. Good luck

I have this, its a nice kit but there is some heavy shrinkag with the resin parts. With mine, the rear is particularly bad, when i eventually build it I may have to cut this part up along with the original and mate them together.

so the part is too small?

does it look to you then that in the pic bah humbug posted
the resin parts or car have been modified to make it look right?
or does it seem like they just built the car the way it came?
I ordered this kit too, and I was looking forward to it until this thread..

Talking THANKYOU EMS!

EMS shipping only cost me 1860 yen for my package. I thought it was double that. Total was 5360 yen, My package was shipped I think the 11th, it came today on the 14th. I think I like EMS even if it is expensive.

I think the kit looks great. The resin parts fit good for me and I only had one air bubble on the side of the front bumper. With a tad of putty and sanding it will be filled. The front and rear bumper have extra resin one the side that has to be cut off. The wing I think is cast out of metal since it's a bit heavy. THe wing needs a little sanding but overall it's good.
Haven't taken a good look at the plastic parts but They don't look bad at all. I'll just have to see how this kit really is when I start building.
That's mainly it for me with the kit I got.
I've got lots of pics.

This is where the sideskirt is attatched, instead of putting it on the stock ones I think I'll cut them off and put tabs on the new sideskirts like on the SAS body kits. THat way the sideskirts look less bulky.

Cutting off the extra resin will be a pain, I have to be careful not to brake the bumpers.
I'll also think I'll have to cut out that intercooler and make a new one.

Note, the rear bumpers are upside down.

AVS model 7 and Kranze Shoki, the sevens came from the kit.

I don't know what'll do with the stock parts, I guess I'll play around with them and make some nice body kit.

Pics will explain better...

The sides don't present much of a problem and actually fit better than some of Fujimi's kits with plastic bodykits - Greddy RX7 for example.

The front is not so bad either, will be a bit fiddly to attach and the edges that meet the front quarter panels are thin and look a little unsightly compared to the original part.

The rear however is quite shocking! The resin has shrunk so much that it will not meet at the sides. Even the area for the license plate is narrower.

tonioseven ordered this kit for me since i don't have PayPal or a credit card, and i'm anxiousley awaiting it's arrival...hopefully my rear bumper hasn't shrunk quite so much. if so, i'll be willing to put the extra work in to fix it...i just hope i do it right and don't fuck up the bumpers. we shall see! i'm planning on painting it pink...

I think I've figured out how to fix it. It will take too long to explain but it has to do with both bumpers.

I'll show my idea in my progress thread.

the resin shrinkage also happened on the S15 Esprit that I owned. I remembered somebody pointed out that the Garage Defend's rear skirt also a bit too small.

So I think it'll be in most of the resin S15s

As i mentioned, perhaps the best way is to cut both up and graft them together.
