Anyone know how to remove the front door to get to the speakers. I've removed the 3 screws (2 Door Handle, 1 door lock) and the push button on the side of the door where the lock is. It looks like then the door panel should just lift off but it feels as if it is held on the lower left corner (This is looking at the inside of the passenger side door). Thanks in advance.

There should be another screw up by the outside mirror. To get to this, the triangle shaped plastic trim piece needs to be pulled off. Also, did you remove the door handle/lock unit? Once all of that is finished, the door panel should come off by pulling it up, and then out.

I assume then that if I just take a screwdriver to that piece it'll just pop off? Held on my some plastic push-pin or something? Thanks for the info

Yea, just get a flat-head screwdriver between the plastic piece and the door, and pry it out.

I'm having the same problems with a '96 SC2.. 4 Screws removed (Door Handle (2), Door/Lock Lever Plate (1), Rearview Mirror (1). I've been able to pry all the plastic pushpins out except the two above the door/lock lever assembly. It's like the assembly is stuck in place and won't come out. What am I missing? Is there a hidden button, spring, pin, anything? that I'm missing? Oh yea, what about removing the rear package tray? I figure two trim screws (one each qtr panel) and the torx screws on the cd changer, what else is there?
Thanks guys! |

you don't have to take off the whole panel, not on my 1994 at least, post 1995s may be different. but you can just pop off the grill. if it has an outer grove, try sticking a flathead in there and then it sould pop, the rears are a lot harder. you have to get in the trunk and take off 4 little washers/fasteners ( i just broke those off)

Okay so the Small triangluar piece that's where the side view mirror is comes off but a word to the wise. Use TWO screwdrivers to pop it off. One on the bottom and one on the side next to the door hinge. There are two "clamps" holding this triangular pierce in and one screwdriver will break one of the clamps off. Guess how I found this out? UGH! I haven't gotten to taking the door panel off yet. Hopefully this weekend. I also have seen 4 screws in the door. (2 in the handle, 1 at the lock, and 1 behind the triangular piece.)
The rear speakers where a lot easier. Pop out the plastic push pins and then remove the cardboard cover over the rear deck. The speakers needed some help to get the custom connector removed but after playing around and sticking a flat head screwdriver in the connector it comes off pretty easy. As usual once you know how to do this stuff its very easy. I wonder how many pieces the guys at the dealership break till they figure out all the tricks. |
