I have a E46 and after 19.900 km I got the "brake pads" sign turned on !
It is normal to change them for the first time at 20.000 km or I'm driving like a maniac and I should stop ????? THX |

Hey, I have seen the brake lining light come one as early as 12k. It all depends on the driving habits of the customer and the driving conditions. City/Highway, Driving miss daisy/Driving it like you stole it. Hope this helps.

Bring your car to the dealer and bitch. I did just that, didn't take no for an answer, and they did it as warranty work. Just make the case that the brakes must be defective - and it certainly sounds like they are if you're not a maniac. Anyway, I'm about to have the rear brakes done and I have about 45,000 miles.

Oh crap! Please don't tell me I am going to be in for $500 in brake work soon. I have about 36,000 miles and just spent about $700 in tire replacements about 4,000 miles ago. I was hoping not to have to put more into it before my lease is up in about a year.

Depending on the year of the car, it should have full maintenance till 50k miles. If you pm me and give me your vin, i'll check for you.

Your right, I do have 50,000 maint. Would that cover something like brake pads? Guess I'll need to pull out my service manual and see.
