HICAS - help!!!
Hi guys,
Just needing some advice...... this afternoon i got inot my car and when I started it , the HICAS light started flashing intermittantly. When it did the steering wheel would pulse, and lock slightly. It seems to only do it at low speeds. It has done it a few times since. Anyone know what to do, or anywhee in Sydney who might be worth taking it to??? Thanks Will p.s its a 1993 r32 auto |

Failing that you could check the alternator - sounds silly, but there have been a couple of members (myself included) who have had similar problems. The HICAS light would flash, steering would go heavy when sitting at the lights, ie low rpm. When the rpm goes up, eg taking off, it sorts itself out. This is because the alternator wasn't charging at full power and the power to the HICAS was weak.
Keep us posted dude

GSR32 you are a legend!!!!
I waited this morning and then rang the mechanic after I got your post, he had no idea what the problem was as he had checked the hydraulics for the steering and everything was OK. He was thinking it mustve been some sort of sensor which was gone, which may have taken a while (labour hours $$$$) to diagnose. I mentioned the alternator. About half hour later got a call, and yes, it only charging at around 9 volts. Well theyr sorting that out, so it should be sweet 2mor. Now i have one less thing on my mind before my final exam for Uni tomorrow. Thanx guys for the advice Will |
