Question aftermarket cd player install

Hey guys, I am trying to install an aftermarket cd player in my 2000 cavalier. Here's the problem, I have no idea on how to accoplish this task. Also, someone at the place where I purchased it told me that it may have to be relocated and the factory unit may have to be left in; Is this true? Please help me! Thanks Poohbear

yea, u'll have to relocate it somewhere in ur car, trunk prolly would be the best place. by taking the stock head unit out, alot of features r disabled. like the door chines for one. there's other threads on here that ask the same question.

as for installation, it's a bitch but it can be done if u wanna do it. or have a pro install it.

i recommend taking it somewhere to have it professionaly done because it is a bitch to do and hes right, theres alot of things that are disabled. what the professionals will do is mount the factory unit in the trunk and that will make it so u can keep all of ur options... if u dont leave it in ur car u will lose keyless entry, alarm, etc. there all put into the factory head unit. relocating it to the trunk and having everything work still can be a bit tricky so like i said... id have it done proffessionaly... its not that much for an install.. and depending where u bought it from (assuming you just bought it ) some places offer free installation or at least a discounted price so you might wanna talk to them. even if you end up having to pay for an install... its worth the frustration and time that you would spend doing it urself plus its not that much
