accord security
Is a factory alarm system optional at all in 97 Honda Accords? I only ask because Honda's are known for being favorites of five finger discounters... and it seems to me that if HOnda goes through so much to ward away these bad people such as adding locks everywhere you turn around (the trunk in the back window area, near your gas door opener, and through the pass thru area in the backseat), they would have an alarm system on the car. They have an antitheft device on the radio but isnt my car worth more than the radio? This car is totally new to me and Im still getting used to it. My Maxima had an alarm system and had no locks anywhere in the car except the glove box. Maybe if Honda started putting alarms in as a standard feature, they wouldnt be a favorite car to steal... ???

MAYBE CUZ HONDA WANTS TO KEEP THERE REPUTATION AS CARS THAT ARE REASONABLY PRICED, NOT EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES MAY NEED AN ALARM ON YOUR CAR, THATS WHY THEY MADE IT AN OPTION, PLUS THINK OF IT FROM A COMPANY STANDPOINT, YOU THINK THEY CARE IF U GET YOUR CAR STOLEN, NO, ALL ITS GONNA DO IS MAKE YOU GO BUY ANOTHER ONE

alarm?????
Alarms are a joke anyway, people steal accords the most because so many people have them. And if there are alot out there guess what alot of people want parts. Speaking of parts, if you know anyone with a black or silver 4th gen se or anyone with some leather buckets they don't want let me know.

even if you have an alarm, a good car theif can have that shut down in less than a minute. alarms are more like a comfort blanket; they make you feel like your car won't be stolen, but in reality it doesn't make a big difference.

 I have an alarm, but its really more for keyless entry than security. if the guys around my way want my car, they're gonna get it. My garage is much more security to me than my alarm system.

I agree that alarms are pretty pointless. Unless you get a really expensive one, that bitch is going to go off when the wind blows too hard. And yep, the reason Hondas are one of the most stolen cars in the world is because there are so many of them.
