are 89 axles and 95 axles the same?
Hey guys...I'm in the middle of my D16Z6 swap into my 89 LX. when I pulled the motor, I noticed my axle boots are both ripped and too much dirt has gotten into the boots for me to leave it the way it is. The thing is, i got the 95 civic ex axles sittin in my garage. Will they pop into my 89 civic tranny. i'm not sure if the number of splines on the axles are the same. Please don't get this confused with the clutch splines which is 20 for both transmissions. I'm looking for axle splines...Thx in advance

im totally just guessing so wait for someone to tell you that really knows but since with d-series swaps you dont have to change the axels i would make an educated guess that you could use them.

That would be nice! Who do you think I should ask around here? I really don't want to keep my f-ed up L3 (89 DX) axles. I want to use the Z6 axles. I've heard that all 88-00 d series axles are interchangeable. i just really would hate to go pay for 2 used 89 axles when I have nearly brand new 95 axles sitting in my back pocket right now (not really, but they're at an arms reach...lol).

Exactly!!! I'd rather someone tell me it works then discover it works....although if it does work, I'll be excited because those axles are much more powerful than my 89 axles. Also, it will be cool because i'll be doing something that no one else has done....95 si motor in a 89 lx with an lx tranny and the 95 si axles...
