whats a REAL street racer to you

what do you think is a real street racer...i belive its NOT someone who sports 4 sparcos...huge wing..altezza's(god i hate those)...head/tails light swaps....huge wheels..and a big ego...
i belive its a person who covers the speed-o-meter...one seat..does it for money...sometimes to support him/her....and dosent care what the car looks like....jus tell me what you people think...i could be wrong to some of you...........

I think a real street racer is someone dumb and bold enough to actually go out and go for it. I street race with my friends and let me tell you its scary when the cops come out. I agree that its not looks that count. do you drag?

street racers aren't really "racers."

i believe ppl who occasionally race on the streets, yet goto the track for real races are actual "racers."

ppl who call themselves street racers are posers in my eyes.

jus my opinion tho.

A real street racer is someone that just races on the street, no mater how ugly or fast his car is.
If a geo metro with an aluminium wing races against a ferrari modena with 19 inch bbs rims, they are both street racers.

Other than that, a real racer is mostly what KrNxRaCer00 said, someone who autocrosses or goes to the 1/4 mile or races proffesionally.

Good God!!! "Real" street racer?! You've got to be kidding. I knew that there are "real racers". I don't think street racers can be classified as "real" or "posers". I don't even think about street racers as being real. Street racing is an illegal activity which anybody, no matter what car they drive, can participate in. Therefore, I believe it only has one classification, "street race". "Real" street racer? C'mon...

A real streetracer is someone who goes out to meets every Friday night or whatever with a bunch of people, and races down empty roads. It doesn't matter what kind of car they have, because there's no set of classes or anything. The only rule is go fast and win. Whether it's stupid/illegal or not, there are such thing as "real" streetracers not meaning people who just drive fast on the way to work.

actually there is no such thing as a REAL street racer.....a street racer is someone who races whoever they want on the street....no real or fake street racer.....either u race or u don't

Allright, so a ricer isn't a "REAL" street racer? So, then from what you wrote from your first post in this thread, a junkie (no matter what car they drive right?) automatic POS car who hangs out in car clubs on Friday nights and street races are "REAL" street racers? I kinda meant a ricer who just drives around fast on the way to work or whatever, bugging people at red lights and stuff with no knowledge of ever racing on a real track. "Street racer" is such a broad term though, which imo there really isn't a good explanation of except people who race on public roads. A "real street racer" is like I said above, one who participates in a somewhat organized race on a public road. A "posing street racer" imo is somebody who dressed his/her car up f&f style and doesn't know a single thing about real racing.

I didn't mean to contradict myself but there's a grey area between the two. A ricer can also be involved with legal racing events with his/her body-kitted stock Civic, but another one could also know nothing about it whatsoever and ride around the freeways at top speed being a menace. That's what I think a poser is.

Ok, now that you've cleared yourself up...that sounds a lot better. I can see what you're saying and also your piont of view, but I still don't think that street racers can be classified as "REAL" or "POSERS". Of course, this topic is controversial and based on opinions. No one is wrong in terms of their definitions. A lot of people would agree with you, because your opinion is branched towards the majority of the people who think the same way as you do. But I still and always will believe, "REAL" street racers? C'mon.
