Apexi or HKS exhaust?

Hey guys i was wondering if you any of you mr2 owners have an apexi exhaust or an hks exhaust because i was wondering if you liked it and if you can feel the performance it offers.

I'm not an MR2 guy but I just installed an HKS exhaust on my boys 91 and I gots to say.............DAYAMN!!! The exhaust itself is beautiful. It's the size of a cannon but the sound is pretty quiet. I was impressed.

Check it out for yourself.............

Agreed...I'm only 20 and the thing looks a little big. I'd much rather keep the dual exhaust layout, that way you can have a fairly good exhaust flow upgrade and not worry about your coffee can scraping on the ground.

wow. the irony of your post boggles my mind... jenn a newb check her out on the mr2 boards. and ask anyone else there the blitz nurspec does give the most hp to the mr2 its dyno proven to give 20 hp to the wheels and the pipes curving are what adds the power just think about that one also the blitz nurspec is 3 and 1/2 inches is also the best sounding..if your looking for sound. sir i think you are the newb here atleast when it comes to mr2s.. and they were thinking hey lest make a sweet exhaust to give the most hp to the mr2 on circuit racing..in the nurburg ring the exhaust is modeled after the nurspec for the supra..and the curves make up for the distance between the back of the car and the motor because of its position..

back on topic.. depending on what you want show or go..id get the hks dual draggers for show..and the n1 for go.. but preferably change that choice the nurspec if your going single exit.

The Blitz Nur Spec is a tuned exhaust, which means Blitz spend a lot of time and money researching what gives the MR2 turbo the most useable power band. Exhausts are like musical instruments, slight changes the radius of the piping as well as ENGINEERED turns will yield the highest power and torque gains from the engine.

The Apex'i GT is a great exhaust for top-end power, but doesn't offer the same mid-range grunt the Blitz will give you. The Blitz is a better exhaust all around IMO because not all of us run wide open throttle all the time.

The Apex'i GT is also a well built exhaust though... it's tapering piping shows that Apex'i knew what they were doing when designing an exhaust for maximum top end power (As gases cool, the occupy more volume thus you need piping that gets larger as the exhaust comes to the tip)

Well, I'd rather not comment rudely to another MR2 owner, so I will keep my comments to myself rather than being a total ass.....

About the dual tip exhaust, the majority of turbo exhaust seems to be dual. Correct me if I am wrong. The only single tip I can think of is the SARD and the Blitz. I just like the Nurspec so much because I have felt how hard it pulls after we installed it and WOW, it was insane! Not only does it make the MR2 pull really hard, but it sounds beautiful and I think the 3 1/2" piping looks beastly! C'mon.

Re: Apexi or HKS exhaust?

let me guess the gain at mid end of blitz is like 5 hp more then apexi maybe and maybe apexi gt has maybe 10hp more at topend so to ME it is up to price, looks, or if u going to actally race in a drag strip, or autocross, drift. what ever it's up to u! i SAY apexI gt all the way good looks? but better looks is grage fuki

Go for the dual HKS exhaust. I think that it looks absolutely awesome, and with the addition of a 3 inch downpipe, turns into an absolute monster. In all honestly, a Nurspec may give you a tad bit more power, but it sure isn't going to be a noticeable difference over a dual HKS exhaust, and the look of the dual system makes up for it anyway.
